G3 G3: This or That?

Here are some G3 ponies which look very similar to each other. Which do you like better?

Crystal Crown or Winter Snow?

Crowning Glory or Royalette?

I like Royalette better. I think it's her pose, cutie mark and the arrangement of colours in her hair that I find more pleasing than Crowning Glory's. But I can't decide between Crystal Crown and Winter Snow. They're both very much the same. I like Winter Snow's cutie mark better, but in those pictures I like Crystal Crown's tone more.

I feel like ever since G2, ponies have become less and less unique... G4s are the worst because it's the same six characters the entire time and they don't even bother with new poses, but looking at G3 it's pretty bad too... I can't identify most of those ponies at a glance, they all look too alike. I miss the good old days when even if there were two ponies with the same colour scheme, they looked different enough from each other to tell them apart.

I don't find it too much of a problem with G3 - there is enough variation in poses, eyes, hair and cutie marks for me to collect even similar-looking ponies - until we reach the Core Seven. Argh! I own Cupcake and Tea Leaf, both pink with yellow hair, and Blue Mist and Dream Blue, both blue with pink hair, and I find enough difference between them to appreciate them in their own right. Also, I like the fact that if I love a certain colour combination, there is more than one pony with it I can collect, but not to the extent of owning five Twilight Sparkle's - I don't find it worth collecting if it's essentially the same pony released over and over again with different poses and accessories. I think, with the number of ponies in the G3 line, it's near impossible not to repeat a colour combination. I sometimes try to come up with a unique imaginary pony (which I'd like to collect, so perhaps not a ghastly leopard print one), and have yet to come up with something which does't already exist as an actual G3 pony!

That said, along with Blossomforth and Strawberry Swirl, there are too many white ponies with dark pink hair...

As for the darker pink ones, I'm indifferent and don't really like either Dx

I like Starbeam a lot, and Royal Crown, Winter Snow, and the strawberry ponies I can hardly tell apart!

I've always just loved Starbeam!

As for Twinkies, I always thought Anchors Away and Desert Palm were quite similar, aside from Palm's 3d symbol.
