Gingerbread's kitchen

Wow gingerbread! When you said you went a little overboard you weren’t kidding, it all looks amazing
And that’s so sweet that you make sure everyone goes home with leftovers of food And desert
My favorite part is the labels written on the tablecloth lol (I’m one of the weirdos that likes the canned cranberry :lolpony:)

I will just “show up” one holiday on your door step. I will probably stop off and pickup @MustBeJewel on my way so we can all indulge. ;p

I can promise there will always be plenty of food LOL so surprise guests don't scare me!

The craft paper on the counters was a new thing and I think I will do that for most parties and get togethers now. I just got a roll of brown packing paper from the dollar store and covered the counter with it. Then I can write what dishes are what, although it's pretty obvious for most things but since I have a vegan brother it is handy to just write his name next to the things he can eat. Then people aren't asking me over and over which ones are the vegan dishes vs the "regular" LOL If I had more time and counter space I could've even come up with some clever fun notations. Bonus, I don't care about any drips or spills and when it's all done I just crumple it all up and toss it.

I just love to host, I love to feed people and hope to have that kinda home where everyone can come and relax and feel cozy. My great grandma's house was like that, when you went over there you could kick off your shoes, make yourself at home and stay all day. I don't know what it was but it's like time slowed down in that place and it was somewhere you looked forward to going and didn't feel like you wanted to rush to leave. Maybe it was just secret Grannie magic LOL

There is SO much food at the MDPM! The first year I came I couldn't find anything that wasn't already covered! No one gets hungry there! I must think of something unique to contribute... that will also survive a 3 hour car ride. We got some excellent pony-baking friends, some of those cakes and decorated cookies are phenomenal! I don't have the patience to decorate cookies LOL

Can I have the recipes for some of those pies?! I want to make a couple of them for Christmas! My family usually has the exact same dishes for Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as year after year. I'm looking to spice it up this year and would love another chance to make a pie. Namely the peach pecan pie, blueberry streusel pie, and the cinnamon walnut pie, but any and all would be appreciated! Also a cranberry pie recipe if you have one!

Also I love your setup! Those tins are such a good idea haha. That said while I was at the dollar store a few days back I saw paper tablecloths in some really cute thanksgiving and fall designs. Just as disposable but still cute!

Of course! I'll get to posting them this weekend for ya! I do not have a cranberry pie, never thought about making a cranberry pie but I have a yummy cranberry relish!

I love the dollar store LOL!! You can often find really cute crafting idea supplies and party supplies!

It has Fireball in it?! My MIL would love that!

I hosted my annual gift wrapping party; friends, food and a living room full of wrap, ribbons, bows and chaos :satisfied:
I tried to snag some foodie pics before everything was devoured, almost lost a hand :lolpony:

but let's see what was on the menu this year? I tried to keep it simple cause sheesh, this holiday season has come up so fast it's about run me over! A pony can only do so much when you only have a few hours after work each night but here we go...

spinach artichoke dip, deviled eggs, jalapeno almond peach cheese ball, cucumber toasties, dilly party crackers, cranberry turkey spinach pinwheels, country ham rolls, sausage balls, bacon crackers and of course various punch and party drinks.

the only thing I really prided myself on was my dessert. It doesn't look like much but it was delicious. I've been playing around with doing "steamed puddings" I feel like Mrs. Bob Cratchit LOL anyway after making my first couple I invested in a pudding crock and was excited to use it so "steamed Christmas pudding" is what we had. I had that thing steaming away all afternoon and they were all interested to watch it come out after dinner and I just silently prayed it would turn out and be done. Which it did and was *whew* all were impressed LOL this one was basically a spiced cake, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and clove with red and gold raisins and dried cranberries. I served it warm with a vanilla bean custard sauce. It was so good, and I love my new pudding crock!

more holiday goodies to come!

I was thinking about just bringing drinks bc I dont know what could possibly survive a 7 hour drive and overnight at a hotel.. id be worried even a cake might fly into the floorboard at some point LOL. Especially not cupcakes.. hmm I wonder what everyones thoughts on Sweet green pepper jelly is? Cant go wrong with pepper jelly, cream cheese, and crackers..I could probably buy the cream cheese in MD.

Thirded! ::tries flapping arms really hard to achieve air travel::

I agree with everyone so I'm not gonna repeat it all, instead I'm just gonna ask this: How do you come up with these recipes? Do you have specific places online where you look for them? Do you come up with them yourself based on experience? Do you like try ingredients and stuff and then just experiment with combinations? Did you grow up in a "foodie" household that taught you a lot of stuff?

I'm totally curious because I've lived with a family that mostly just eats the same things with the same spices all the time, I've grown so sick of it I have tended to barely even like food. When I've looked online though it's always seemed like it's all the same stuff with little variance, I have a hard time finding many recipes that are truly different from what I've gotten tired of.

Also, I just got the stuff to make the the blueberry strudel and cinnamon walnut pies! Thank you again, I'm really looking forward to making them!

Is it okay if I post mine here? I made two of the recipes you gave me, Gingerbread! ^^ The blueberry streusel and the cinnamon walnut! I cannot WAIT to try these tomorrow! Especially that blueberry one... I tried a little bit of the leftover filling after I put the pie in the oven and man, for how much sour cream is in that it's so sweet and yummy and tastes like it'll go extremely well with the blueberries. I am way excited for tomorrow!

Merry Christmas Eve, by the way, and Merry Christmas too!

Go for it @Glistening Rainlight I hope you liked them! I find recipes anywhere and everywhere! I read cookbooks like people read novels and sometimes I just come up with my own things. I didn't do as much baking as usual this year but once the christmas dust settles I'll be sure to share some pics :)
