Gingerbread's kitchen

That looks cute and delicious. Love the hula Pillsbury doughboy too.

@Gingerbread "It's too hot to cook... Let me see if I've done anything lately..."

Proceeds to list a hundred amazing food creations.

You are a wonder! That brunch menu for Mother's Day had some things I've never thought of and your chicken/chick cake! SO cute!

Love you food-crafty people.

Agreed!! More gingerbread goodness for my eyes! Seriously would love to have a pony party at her house!

I second that! What a treat that would be haha

I had actually started thinking about a pony shindig right before 2020 brought the covid. I sorta completed the G1 US collection and I had told myself when that happened I'd throw a party. But with everything going on in 2020 those plans halted and since then I've kinda expanded my definition of "complete". I think it's different for each collector but for me "complete" was defined as all G1 ponies not including plushes or almost exact duplicates for example; have to have the sparkle ponies but not necessarily the MO ones AND the regular.

So based off that I completed the US collection X-mas of 2019. However, since I didn't get to throw my shindig and some time has passed, I've kinda shifted my definition to include ALL G1 US ponies, including the plushes and any that are close duplicates. Therefor opening me up to still needing a handful LOL this gives me more time to plan on eventually throwing a party and still have some fun pony hunting to do :)

But I digress, and yes, the menu and decor for that will have to be amazingly pony themed!!

I am so glad you waited because I wasn't on here then. I am giddy with anticipation!!! Now what ponies can we help you acquire to make this happen?????

Then I suppose it also gives me more chance to have the opportunity to actually go! ;) That would be an awesome occasion as well! :D

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....in July :xmastree:

Every other month I do a game night with my brothers and we take turns hosting. It was my turn this month, so OF COURSE I had to do a Christmas in July theme! We were supposed to do it last weekend. So Saturday I put a few decorations up and was getting everything ready and then it stormed and we lost power :( for almost 24 hours it was out and it was the hottest weekend we've had all summer. The feels like, was 106  so game night was rescheduled and my hubby and I sat around in a house that was pushing 90 degrees with Christmas decorations up, eating Christmas cookies in our underwear cause clothes were too hot  I can laugh about it now but lemme tell ya, it was rough.

So, game night attempt 2 was successfully executed this weekend instead. More treats made, some store bought cause hey, I can only do so much after work LOL but here are some pics to help you get into the Christmas spirit!

IMG_8931.JPG IMG_8926.JPG IMG_8933.JPG

I made the ham rolls but the appetizers were just frozen things and I was just gonna do my 2 cookies but I walked by a watermelon cake in the store and the red and green made me stop in my tracks, throw some christmas sprinkles on top and BAM!

I had some balsam candles going and christmas music playing, I took a few pictures but there was plenty more decor LOL I left it up and had a friend over the next day too for a Christmas movie and to help me finish eating up treats :snowman:

@OctoberMoon I'm so excited to see the Halloween stuff starting to come out! I am actually thinking about starting to decorate the inside. Mostly cause I don't remember what I already have LOL and I keep seeing things and wanting to buy them but then thinking, "do I have that?" LOL that's when you know you have too much holiday decor! *she says while staring at a box containing a 3 ft tall gingerbread man cookie cutter that arrived today*

I envision vanilla mini cakes decorated in a sugar skull style! Although I'd probably get lazy after the first batch, I love to bake but I hate decorating, I find it tedious. But I think they would be super cute with colorful candies and frosting swirls and done up like sugar skulls. Oh, or a dark chocolate lava cake with cherry filling that would crack and oooze out like brains :skull:

My baking season is coming. LOL I should get a tee shirt made, "Baking is coming"

It usually kicks off with our state fair competitions. Crossing my fingers I do better this year than last year! I stand by my belief the judge must've had covid at some point and not regained their proper taste back LOL only two 3rd place ribbons! :hmph:

This has gotta be my favorite kitchen meme. I swear, sometimes I wonder what I'm thinking  Clearly "planning me" is not the same woman as "accomplishing me", we are 2 VERY different people

So our state fair opens this weekend and if ya didn't know, I started entering in the baking competitions several years ago and got hooked. Every year I enter several things and so far *knock on wood* I've won ribbons every year. So for the past 48 hours I have been baking my heart out (AKA, I'm hot and my feet hurt) LOL I swear, from this day forward, no more than 3 items!!! This pony is beat!

So what's in the line up?!?

Ricotta cookies with almond glaze; in hindsight probably not my best choice. Don't get me wrong, they're delicious, they're one of my favorite cookies but they are simple and the division was "any cookie" so will be put up against any number of fancier flavor combos. So I really don't expect them to place.

IMG_9089.JPG

Lemon poppyseed zucchini bread. I'm on the fence with this one. It's good, it's really good but I don't know if it's a show stopper. Division is "quick breads" so goes up against any number of things.

IMG_9090.JPG

Carrot cake. I'm hoping for a ribbon on this one. I make a fantastic carrot cake if I do say so myself! But the division is "fruit and vegetable cake" so will go against apple, pumpkin, and any other cake made from a fruit or veg. It's good but that's another broad category so I'm not sure. I'm also not thrilled with my decorating. I like baking, I HATE decorating! And I wasn't quite sure how I wanted to pretty it up. Went with the carrots and feel like they came out sub-par

IMG_9091.JPG

Strawberry Lemonade Cake. This one better win a darn ribbon. It about did me in! Let me break it down for you. Beautiful lemon cake, layered with homemade strawberry lemon jam, frosted with a strawberry cream cheese frosting and garnished with fresh made candied lemons. Sheesh, what work went into that sucker! Division is "cakes, other" so will go against any and all cakes, another broad group but feeling good about it.

IMG_9096.JPG

Blueberry coffee cake, this is in a specific "coffee cake" group and it's very good but I've got doubts cause as it cooled it started to sink some  that right there might be enough to call it quits but it is really tasty so we'll see but I would be surprised if he places. I don't know if he needed 5 more minutes or less leavening, maybe the pan? My heart sank like the middle of that coffee cake :(

IMG_9098.JPG

I also entered a jar of my chow chow which I didn't take a picture of, canned goods are a whole other competition group and they were dropped off weeks ago. I really hope that gets a blue ribbon. That's almost like a right of passage in my family so if I get a blue on that I will be thrilled and anything else would just be gravy but we'll wait and see! I'm going tomorrow, wish me rosettes :blueheart::blueheart::blueheart:

I feel like I’m cheating on my diet just by looking and reading! You’ve got all the delicious!

Torture!! I want all of this so badly. Unfortunately, my tummy would revolt against me since I still can’t even eat just a piece of toast without stomach upset post-op.

If your lemon cake doesn’t win a ribbon, the judges are fools! Fools I tell ya!! Be sure to keep us up to date on how your baked goodies made out at the fair.

*sends rosettes for days*

They look amazing. You are so brave to go up against others! I totally think you should win, wish I could taste them! Good luck, you deserve 1st place.

Well, only 2 ribbons but if you're only gonna get 2 at least they can both be blue! I did get a blue on my chow chow, which made me the happiest! That was the one I wanted most and I did get a blue on the strawberry lemonade cake :) I'm a little disappointed my carrot cake didn't even place but I'm still pleased. The others I'm not too surprised on.
