Well I dunno about family time. People were still discouraged to have large family gatherings, not sure how many people heeded that warning or if we'll see a boost in numbers in the next couple weeks. I saw my parents and my 2 brothers, I had a couple appetizers set up on the picnic table outside. Everyone came for about an hour, stayed outside to chit chat and I had all their dinner and dessert packaged up already and they took their Thanksgiving meals home. It was weird and different but it was a compromise of doing a little something and trying to be smart about it. I still managed to keep most traditions, I have a tablecloth I've used every Thanksgiving for years and people write little messages on it or what they're thankful for, so I had that out on the picnic table and I use my deceased grandma and greatgrandma's china platters for the ham and turkey usually but since the dinner was packed to-go I used them for the appetizers I served outside, so we still had some usual elements. The weather turned at the last minute too and was almost hot, it was like 70 with not a cloud in the sky and the sun was roasting us. I was kinda rushing them home cause after being in the hot kitchen cooking the past 2 days and then sitting outside in the heat I was well-done, plus my appetizers were, deviled eggs, shrimp cocktail, cheese/crackers and cream cheese/olives on celery sticks. Not exactly food you want in the sun LOL Virginia has the craziest weather, and next weekend they're calling for snow!
