I have this problem. I do like the G3s and G4s but I think its time to get rid of more than a few. I have already with the G3s. I feel like I only want to collect the G1s the ones I love. Im running out of space too. :/ I even sense that it looks weird to have the newer ponies in the old G1 ponyroom. :/ I put up my G4s so far and i thinking of doing the same with the G3s. To see if I miss them or not. :/ Has anyone reached the pony cross roads? What did you do?

I had to cut my collection way down and decided which ones I really wanted.

I was a G1 collector for years and I collected the first bits of G3. A few years ago, I ventured into G4’s as well. I ran out of room ages ago, but I can’t let any of them go. If I were, G4 would go first.

Ponies bring me immense joy and they would be the last things I would sell.

Back to your original question though, I’m focusing just on finishing my G1 collection. I think I need about 40 more. I won’t both with the ridiculous ones either. I’m not paying $1000 for a piece of plastic. I’m going to make myself a custom Rapunzel.

I dont think im "done' I got baby seaponies to buy an others thats part of the problem thats why I wanna downsize my collection. I also made an custom rapunzel but I ended up buying her in the process. It was a long story.

I’ll never be done. <3

I'm running out of room too! But I keep seeing ponies and thinking, "oh I want it!" Case in point, the new Dungeons & Dragons ponies! Don't know where they'll live, but I want them ... :lolpony:

Space is always the issue... :sadpony:

Have you thought about putting them away for a while and seeing how you feel about them later? I rotate my pony collection each year with the annual dust-a-thon. What doesn't go on display goes in air conditioned storage. Whenever I pop open the storage bins, it feels like Christmas! :lolpony: So I know that I still love and miss those ponies. But if I didn't miss any of them, I know it'd be time to find them a new home... Just a thought.

Mine went from a unaltered childhood collection to I actually got money so I'm doubling its size now with more exciting ponies like Diamond Dreams, Yum Yum, Mimic, Napper, TE Brighteyes and some others even some Europe exclusives

And my daughter has expressed intereat in inheriting my entire collection when I pass away so she's starting grooming and caring for them

And some became sticky so I'm giving them peroxide soaks

I collect from all four generations and live in a tiny apartment! It's been helpful for me to stick to specific themes. For example, I kept all of my "night sky" ponies but don't buy the "desserts and sweets" ponies. That's helped me focus a bit.

I did put my G4s away. I will see about my G3s. I have enough space in storage to hold them in bins. As for space outside on shelving I was thinking of that beacuse Im sure Ill want to buy more G1s down the road. I got some more Euro exculsives to buy someday. so its part of the reason why I started this thread. I also love the theme idea. :) thanks for the tips.

Until I win the Powerball/MegaMillions and have enough property for this life-sized...

(a room for every gen and a pony meet patio :lolpony:) then yes. My goals have changed many times over. My current primary goal is to complete my US/Canadian G1 collection. Secondary is a complete G3 collection. If I accomplish those, I'll evaluate at that time whether or not I want to keep them all or just my favorites. I am currently out of space. My pony room is full until I get more shelving units, and I have boxes of stuff in the spare room and the crawl space upstairs. I collect other toy lines too, and I have a cabinet full of Barbie and porcelain dolls and knick-knacks that I don't necessarily want at my parents' house that has never made the move to my house... If I do have to purge, Barbie, G4, and the few G2s I have will likely be first to go. This summer off is supposed to be about organization. We'll see how far I get...

Now im thinking of the song "Picnic with the ponies at the paradise estate." I got it for my birthday one year. I also have enough room to have it spradled out or stacked. I have it stacked right now. I may put it on display again. I do love it.

oh my yes... my constantly changing herd... had a bunch sold / yard sale when I outgrew them (totally regret) than got "back into ponies when I was wandering the toy shelf for my daughter (2005) so I actually didn't start re-collecting again until G3 was the norm... than stumbled into this thing called a Pony Meet with Jewel and company, won me a mexican prince pony (first nirvana) and I was totally hooked into collecting international ponies as well as having fun making and buying customs ... now thousands of MLP later and end of FiM I have had to figure out who I like and how best do I organize "families/armies" in some cases and then I decided to add in fakies like totsy 'cause I just loved their smile... so, yeah, my herd now has zelfs and monster high friends and tokidokis alongside LPS buddies amongst the G1, G3, G4 and so many more. I went from a shelf to a room in about a decade

Definitely many times since I first started collecting for myself (if you count spending my own money on ponies, not when you got ponies for christmas etc.) when the g2 ponies came out.

After I got my visa card, could sign up for paypal, and not use my grandpas :lolpony:, I started with the goal of getting the ponies I wanted the very most. Daddy Apple Delight was #1, I was obsessed with getting him after wanting him all my childhood and playing with him every chance I had at my friends house! After that it was the other UK/EU ponies in the later years that I was missing.

In the hunt for those rarer ponies I picked up a bunch of regular US ones, started getting interested in variants and Nirvanas, customs, merch, more g3, basically anything and everything that caught my fancy and then some. I ended up with a huge collection of just random stuff that I didn't really have any control over what I had, I just knew it all made me happy.

In 2015-16 I put all my ponies in storage and started selling some. I should have waited a little longer in doing so, but it started the process of where I am right now. I have been pretty actively selling stuff since (with some pony breaks because I have been pregnant a few times).

Now I sell more than I buy. I am back to where I first started. I want the ponies I am missing from my childhood Dream Team! I have been hunting down the missing ones in the 'Family friends and baby ponies' set, only missing Daddy Berrytown now! I started buying accessories for my ponies, which I never cared for before, like baby Ruby's ring and necklace, the skating ponies walkmans, brushes and stuff like that and it makes me really happy :)

Ontop of that I have again started my CJ army collection hunt to try and get every single piece of Cherries Jubilee merch I can. Plus the few CJ's I actually don't have in my collection :CJ::CJ::CJ:

Basically now I am happier with my collection than I have been for YEARS! I am selling stuff I no longer care for and only buying some ponies here and there I really want :ponylove:

Hello, same here, I collect g1 and g3, then started to collect g4 cause I liked them ,but now I only want to keep the g1 and the g3, and get rid of the g4s, its about space, and I want to keep only the most I like. I also keeping my armys, minty and applejack from different generations. But yes, once a couple of years ago I almost sold my whole collection, sometimes I want to sell all of them but, then I remember how difficult it was to get them again, even I coudlnt get some of them.
