Hi to all the MLP collectors out there. I have been a MLP collector from the ripe age of um, 5-ish? I've gathered my ponies over the years from various second-hand sources and have a wild array of ponies. I mostly joined (for the first time ever) because I've had my collection in storage for over decade and I was interested in selling some and I've been out of the game for so long, I don't know what to do. I'm overwhelmed. What are people looking for? What condition? How many at once should I sell? Am I even in the right spot to ask questions? Even ebay has changed since last I used it (over a decade ago lol). So I don't know where to start! I'm just probably going to lurk for a while. I have two little ones so my time is short. Thanks!

Welcome to the TP! You are definitely in the right place to get started on selling some of your ponies. The first thing I would do (if you are selling G1 ponies) is to check out @bluerose9978 's price list that she maintains. It will give you a good idea of what things have sold at - even if the prices are currently a little higher/lower.

You can also make a post in the Discussion Forum to ask for specific pricing help, and if you have other generation ponies, this may be most helpful.

I always recommend selling on our sales page here first, before moving anything to ebay. That way you don't have to pay any of the ebay fees. Our members will probably take quite a few ponies off your hands.

Please let us know if you need more help. And welcome again!

Hello and welcome!

The only little tidbit I would add is the Facebook marketplace is a great resource to sell ponies you can sell here. But a few of us here are always happy to buy ponies and some of us have no shame about it.

Any help you need you can post or feel free to send me a message too. I’m always happy to help however I can.

Wow thank you, this is a great resource and I'd love to not pay Ebay fees if there's another option for passionate pony buyers. You name a G1, I probably have it. Except Mimic, I sold her for concert tickets a long time ago haha.

Thank you! I am happy to sell to any collector, beginner or avid. I'm not sure I'd do the Facebook route. Ill check out the sales page a little. There's a lot more experience and terminology out there now than when I was all "in the know". I feel like I know nothing anymore. Ill msg you if I have a q. Thanks so much!

Welcome to the MLPTP! Good luck with your sales, we're happy to help if you have any questions. Although be warned, we converted many a seller to a collector LOL You start pulling out all those ponies and sorting and cleaning them up and then next thing you know you're buying them instead of selling them LOL

Sounds all too familiar!!!
*Sees all of the "new" ponies smirking on the shelf

Yes welcome!! The wealth of knowledge that is on this forum is amazing! They will be super helpful. Plus we will all be excited to see what you have to sell if that's what you decide to do, my herd keeps growing.

Thanks everyone for the great response and support! Yes, as I am getting the ponies out of boxes and "assessing" their hair, bodies, etc.. I'm thinking hmm, do I REALLY want to sell these? The self-doubt is real! But I'd much rather them be enjoyed and displayed than sitting in a box. Trying to think what lengths to go through to clean them, style them... I literally have no time with a toddler and a baby so they will probably not be getting a spa day. They certainly deserve one though. I've never heard of Mercari, so I'll dig into that a little thank you!

Greetings :) and welcome! Yes depending on the ponies you have really think hard about selling = especially if they are mail order ponies like scoops, rapunzel, sugarcake, gametime, mommy and baby beachy keen etc

take your time enjoying giving your ponies a spa day and feel free to post about whoever ya have any questions about

if you do have any of the above, I would suggest taking offers and ya can even have an auction for a couple of weeks here as yep, we are all in agreement liking to save fees

Welcome to the herd!

You certainly don't have to give them a spa day - if you don't have the time, don't overtax yourself. Most collectors are happy to buy ponies that are still in need of cleaning. Just realize this may impact the price you get due to condition. Sometimes it can be difficult to know what marks might be permanent, if cleaning hasn't been attempted. :)

Welcome! I, for one, would be very interested to know what you have. If you post pictures, even without a spa day, I'm pretty sure some others would be interested, too. I'm looking for mostly purple ponies, so I keep my collection small, but we all love the ponies here.

Hello and welcome! I'm always interested in bait Ponies for customization- they can be faded, scraped, have highlighter marks or regrind, haircuts, etc and they'll get a new life from me. Since I invest a fair amount of $$ into the process, the cheaper the baits are, the better. Good luck and happy "sales"

Oh nice! I have a lot of bait that I’d be interested in downsizing. All of my ponies came to me second hand so I have a lot with marker, brown spots, pink marks (and I just now learned what regrind is). But then of course I have some super mint ones. My goal was to have as many and all the ponies as possible even if it meant having the worst possible one. I had a pony missing a foot once and then finally replaced her when I found another better kept one. I’ve only opened one box of six that I have and I’ll go through it and see if there’s anything of interest! Thanks!

Lucky you, I have lots of purple!

Oh no! I wonder how she lost her foot
I’d also be interested in baity ones, especially if you’ve got any g3. I haven’t found any of them in bad enough shape that I didn’t worry about repainting them yet :)

How much do baity ponies go for? I’ve got some gnarly ones— markers, pindot spots, haircuts, rusty butts, one that’s really weird, sticky, and oily so that’s probably just going in the trash. I think my first order of business will be to separate mint condition from others.

Sorry I wish I had some g3! I mostly have my g3 in boxes though, so no bait there. I’m sure a pupper was to blame for a lost foot based on the chew marks haha
