:bangles:The MLPTP needs YOUR help!:flutter2:

As we continue to reconfigure and revamp our beloved pony site, we are looking to update and add to our FAQ sections -- and we want your help!!!

We are asking for two things from YOU:
  1. What FAQ have we missed? Think back to when you first joined the community - what information do you wish you could easily find?
  2. Do you have video/picture tutorials of pony cleaning and restoration processes? Instead of scouring the internet for helpful tips and tricks (potential from sources we don't know), we'd rather promote the talented pony collectors here that already know so much! What do you have?
Things We Are Looking For:
  • Basic pony cleaning
  • Hair repair and styling
  • Safe head removal techniques
  • Tail washer removal/replacement
Specialty pony cleaning like...
  • Deflocking
  • TE replacement
  • Pony cancer
  • Marker removal
  • Rehairing ponies
  • Differences between doing these things for different Gens
  • Awesome unknown things???
:smile: Please share your experience and ideas with us here so we can all contribute to making an even better MLPTP that is the source of ALL THE PONY KNOWLEDGE!!! :coolpony:

I am currently working on sun fading and a re-rooting tutorial that I can offer up once it’s finished. :)

I can also do some basic cleaning and styling hair too as I have a lot of ponies to work on. Although I am by no means a “professional.”

@Cactusflower does an awesome job with dying ponies. ;)

I just took a few photos on how to change the batteries on G3 ponies Graceful Glimmer and Shimmer Shine (I'm assuming they're the same... I haven't had the chance to actually look at my Shimmer Shine yet [and I think her parts are kind of fused together, anyway... making changing her batteries impossible... x.x;]) Anyway...

The MLP wiki doesn't contain any info on how to do that, and I couldn't find any other 'how to's online (with a basic google search). I was a little unsure on how to pop the battery out, but through a bit of trial-and-error, I found out it's actually really easy to do. ... actually ridiculously easy and I felt a little dumb for not realizing it immediately... ^_^;;

Would this information be of any use/wanted here, on the MLPTP? And if so, where would I post it?

That sounds very helpful! You can either post it here in this thread, or you can send it directly to me. We will begin updating our tutorial threads soon.

Okay. ^_^ I'll post them here, then.

First, take hold of both sides of the pony, and gently twist (one side clockwise, the other counter-clockwise) to "unlock" the halves, then pull apart.

On the battery cover, it says it takes a 3V battery, and how to position the + and - sides of the battery. The photo wasn't too clear, so I added a few lines in MSPaint. ^_^;

Next, take a small phillips head/star-tip screwdriver and unscrew the little screw. It doesn't have to come out all the way from the top plate. When the screw is free from the bottom, you can just pull the cover off.

See that clear little plastic tab on the side? Either use your fingernail, or a flat screwdriver to get underneath the lip, and gently pull up. It will lift the battery up enough for you to grab a hold of its sides, and pull it out.

Replace the battery, and gently push it down into place. Then close everything back up. Hope this helps people! :smile:

And if you're looking for the button to light up her crown... it's the pink button on the right side.
