Hi all,

Im a pony collector from wayyyyy back at the beginning. I only ever had a few of my own, most of what I have are from opshops which I've picked up over the years. I've always admired the customs and hoped I could try one day, but mostly the poor ponies got packed away. Seeing the re-releases I decided to get the old ponies out and have a clean up. I have got a little ways cleaning but have lots of questions on how to proceed which I'll try to find the right thread to ask in

Cheers

Welcome to the herd

Welcome Mich! Tell us about some of your interests and we'll help you come up with an awesome name!

Oh sorry I missed your question till now @evilbunnyfoofoo

I live on a farm so have lots of critters: horses, cattle, sheep, poultry plus a cat, two dogs and a couple bunnies. I sail, ski and craft :)

I was thinking of GrumpyThumper. I promise I'm not THAT grumpy lol. Thumper was a nickname when I was a kid because I was/am heavy footed and loud, especially on floorboards and Angry Ant was a nickname from a manager at work ages ago, not so much for being angry but for usually being on a mission and direct :lolpony: plus Thumper is just cute and adorable. So that is the best I could come up with . Thoughts? Would make for a cute custom pony maybe, if I ever get that far :)

Don't worry about delays! I am literally Queen of lateness in all things!

I LOVE Grumpy Thumper! That's a delightful name! Being a bunny myself, I may well be biased though. And all rabbit based pony customs are by nature twice as cute as any others, so it's definitely a winner!

You sound like me (well, except for sailing or skiing. Closest I could get to skiing is hurling down a mudhill on a piece of cardboard where I live). I adore animals and have a farmload myself! We have a horse, ponies, goats, potbelly pigs, a llama... more than I should admit. And buns too, I just adore rabbits. What breed do you have? I have rexes, lionheads and Californians. All are total brats. They break out of their pen and go walkabout weekly now days!

I had from 40 to 60 bunnies at times till mid last year when calici wiped my poor herd out except for four. I had harlies, polish (Brit petite) and minilops (Holland lops). Only four minis survived. Evil calici. Our vaccine doesn't cover all strains here. I had also been working on making satin lops for over ten years and lost all the best work too. I'm going to start up again, but just the loppies and after our hot weather has past!

We went to Canada and skiied two years ago, it was absolutely amazing. No snow or holidays for us now with covid. So ponies, lots of ponies instead

Oh Mich, I'm so sorry to hear about your herd. I know calici is a bane, what a horrorshow! It's always terrifying, knowing how vulnerable your livestock can be, even with the best vaccines. Here my main enemy has been neighbor dogs. Several times I've lost 20, 30 at a time to dogs, even though I keep mine in fenced yards and in cages. The last attack left me with one old Siamese Satin who managed to flip her nesting box and hide under it. She became a house bunny and I stopped keeping rabbits for years. Now I'm easing back in. I'd love to get some lops and Netherlands later.

Lop Satins sound so adorable! I hope maybe you can use what you learned over the past decade to start work on breeding again, but losing the bloodline must have been gutting.

So what ponies are your faves? I'm kind of a Pony Ho, I like 'em all! :D

I was a die hard g1 fan, buuuut these other gens are wheedling their way in lol. The g3 are pretty darn cute, g2 and g4 are growing on me aaaand I've actually got a couple g3.5 now which are kinda OK lol.

I do have a big light up, talking g4 princess cadance (I think) which was amongst a bunch of g3s and I consider her to be officially scary. Currently relageted to back of a shelf high up and out of the way until I decide what to do with her

Bunnies:
I was lucky that I gave some bunnies to friends in other states a few years ago, so I will have some to work with, just not my latest unfortunately.

That's horrid all the dog attacks you went through.
