I saw a G2 TAF Buttons (the green one) on DeviantArt and I realized that making an epoxy G2 horn is possible. But i want it rounded at the end, basically as similar to the real G2 horns as possible. I know there are different methods of making horns, so...

How do YOU sculpt uni horns?

How
WOULD you sculpt a G2 horn to make it as similar to the real deal as possible?

I know we like to improve things (make the horns sharper, or longer, make wings etched and birdlike), but I'm looking to fool people. I want to say "This was an M-O-C Diamond Glow and I just did whatever I wanted ...wings are in the garbage disposal" and have people believe it. :tongue:Like if the Olsen Twins were customizing.

I'll get a Secret Tail and try to get to work on making a horn (she is good to dye, as she is white, common, and in the uni pose), because I just want to try. I do have that baity Silver Swirl that most people said was okay to customize, but with so many G2 custom unis being home made...I want to try it!! Youtuber Lau Skypainter's G1 Milky Way also makes me want to try it.

As for baity Silver Swirl...I have ideas :winkpony:

EDIT: No, I don't have "ideas," see my reply to @Tak below....

You could make a mould of silverswirls horn by sticking her head into some clay then let the clay dry. After that use the impression to make a g2 horn… maybe with a little peg to anchor it into secret tail’s head?

well, I will make my own horn later. My big, fancy >wink< >wink< idea was to dye Silverswirl, and THEN erase her swirly symbols. Voila! Reverse midnight Silverswirl-customized as well as restored!

It did not pan out, removing the poop stain screwed up the symbol, and as I mentioned I can't fix it. The truth is she was custom bait, she was not Nirvana, she was not mimic, she was the most common G2 uni, and once I got her symbols off she didn't even look white, she looked brown.

So I'm going in with my original idea, which is predictable, and that's that. I want to enjoy her now, life's for living. Ponies are for me to enjoy, my creative writing is meant to impress others. Sorry for bugging people with my indecisiveness.

I don't even think that stain was the same as bait, it was a hygeine hazard!

Tak's suggestion of making a mold would be the best option. Half a mold to push the horn in, and piece the two halves together, sand the seams away. i would imagine you'd need to make two impressions of both sides of the horn/head

Or, might not make it identical, take two pieces of rolled clay (polymer sounds like it might be best), and twist them together to form the shape of the twisty horn. Mold and adjust to match best as you can

Sounds like you're moving on, but you can get silicone mold putty at any craft store. It's usually two parts that you mix together and then you smoosh it onto whatever you want to copy and you get a mold that hardens in 10 to 20 minutes. It's silicone so it's flexible and it shouldn't damage the pony (although the mold putty I usually buy is a dark purple that might stain a light colored pony, so maybe copy a bait pony's horn). Then you put your clay in the mold and get a perfect horn.

Honestly? I would just get some clear silicone from the hardware store, and create a mold by squeezing the silicone into a little cup and putting a G2 unicorn horn into it while it dries. Then you could pour resin into the mold in whatever color, or with whatever glitter you want...
