How fast does pony cancer spread, particulary the center dot mold. One of my daughter's G1s had one spot of it. I had taken all of her ponies and soaked them in bleach, but I'm worried that it will still spread. I've just never known how long it would take for smooze or cancer to transfer from pony to pony.

it could take from months to years, from my experience.

I had a pony that had cancer and within a few months it jumped to the pony next to it. On the other hand that is the only pony it happened to, so I am not sure.

I believe that it's actually a myth. It may "look" like it's spreading but it's really not. It's the environment in which they are stored. If it's warm and humid the chance of it forming on a pony is greater. It takes years to form a stain and the environment is helping it along. Keep them in a cool, dry room (I use a dehumidifier) this will help keep it from forming. Also, avoid washing them often. Moisture is the enemy! lol Good luck! :)

i have heard that it only spreads from one part of the pony to another part of the SAME pony and that it dosent actually spread from one pony to another.

I have had some ponies that had those brown posts on them and they never spread to the pony next to them. But i never really paid much attention to them either. I put them in a special spot away from my non cancer ponies and call it the pony quarintine section or the pony hosptial. my BF thinks i have Issues :p

so you know that you did everything you could, to prevent it from starting.

i have only had one pony that developed it after i got it - TAF merryweather . All the others were infected when i got them :(

Thanks you guys for the responses! I feel a bit better now that it's not going to take over the entire collection.

I have a pony who seems to be curing herself!! My chldhood Windy was covered in the little blackhead thingys when I got her out of the attic last year, there was no area on her body that wasn't affaected! Now she only seems to have it on her face and horn! I haven't cleaned her, I hadn't even taken the plait out of her tail til a few days ago, so I really don't know what is going on. I guess I need to speak to my ponies about the dangers of self medicating!

I wish some of my ponies would just "cure themselves" of it. :)

We should write to MythBusters about it. HAHA Could you imagine, a segment on pony mold? I think my bf would stop watching the show right there.

That would be awesome if MythBusters would do that! [/quote]
