How important is merch to your collection?

I saw a "dream merch" thread that was really fun but it had me thinking of a topic that was different enough that I didn't want to derail the dream merch thread.

Just posting this thread to hear how important merchandise is to everyone's collections! I have never collected merch or even bought any off ebay, but as time goes on I think I'm getting more into the idea of actively pursuing G1 merch.

How about you guys? Do you have a section of your collection dedicated to merch, with checklists of stuff you don't have yet? Or have you never even bought merch before? (And if you do have a significant merch collection... pls share pics!! I would love to see!) :satisfied:
 
Merchandise isn't very important to me. However, socks and blankets are awesome! I had a my little pony lunch box in preschool. Oh, I also love some of the shirts and pajamas out there. I would use all those items, though, not really treat them as collectables. Now @Gingerbread probably has some merch.
 
I've never owned MLP merch and to be honest, I've never really been interested in it. I bought two G1 retro style t-shirts on Redbubble a few months ago, but I only wear them at home.
 
I guess for me it depends on what you’re counting as merch, would that include plush ponys? If yes then it’s very important! I love my plush ones
 
For my collection, it isn’t really important. I got a retro shirt that I was given for Christmas some time ago but I have always used that as a pyjama shirt as I don’t really wear that sort of thing.
The merch I usually see is usually cheap tacky pound shop stuff so I never really see any of the cooler things in person.
If the merch was something like badges, I might buy it since I like badges anyway or if it’s a keyring that I think is nice then maybe I’ll have that too but I don’t have any of that stuff in my collection right now

Basically, my collection is:
•G3 ponies
•A couple of G3 playsets from childhood
•My Little Pony Tales DVD
•G4 ponies
•Blind bag G4 ponies and minifigures
•One plushie (not including G3 so soft)
•Packets and cards from the blind bag ponies
 
mlp merch / clothes are super important to me but im also picky about what i wear! i think lots of the g4 shirts and stuff are cute, but id really kill for some G1 style inspired merch!!! :blush: if they simply took the original G1 illustrations and reprinted them on shirts, thatd be somthing id actively persue <3 or if they did a re issue / re do of the posters and/or original hasbro softies i think id die ...
 
I’ve accumulated some amount of merch over the years but I think the only merch I’ve actively saved up for and bought were the Kotobukiya figures. I already collect anime figures so it just made sense I would collect those. The rest of my merch (stuff like clothes, books/comics, plushies, DVDs...) were (mostly) gifted to me. So I don’t really seek out merch for the most part, but I’m all for having it!
 
Well It really depends on what kind of merchandise you are talking about... :winkpony:

I collect Tinker bell and little mermaid merch whenever I see it at goodwill.
Although I'm not actively looking for anything in particular.
I love my possible Ariel and tinkerbell dolls to death!

I missed out on the pony world for 25+ years after I became a teenager and sadly put my ponies in a tote and went on with my life. Just until recently this year when I pulled them out I really didn't know there was so much merch and other things pony related still out there. I am like @Tak, I would like some socks and shirts and jammies maybe. I think I used to have a lunchbox and thermos back in the day.

Yes, I'm a merchaholic too but I bow before the awesome collection of Prideth. That is a amazing collection there and just how many Princess Sparkle ponies does one person need?! LOL So your house is where they all are!
