How long does each pony wave last?

Hi

I am not sure if I phrased the above question correctly, but I was wondering what everyone's opinion of each new release, it seemed like the butterfly island lasted the longest, but it seems like once we hear about new ponies, a few weeks later, they are out, and then gone and then the next set, here and gone, and it seems like if you don't get them when they first hit, then don't reappear.Or later they do a re-issue. It may be just me and my location. Also it seems like Hasbro just loves to crank them out fast, any opinions?

Thank you, Kat

I thought they changed themes every year Celebration (2003), Friendship Ball (2004), etc. I feel like Crystal Princess has been going on forever though. Maybe Hasbro is distracted by all the Ponyville stuff?

I agree with you that they crank out the new ponies really quickly. I've half given up trying to buy all the ponies I like because my wallet can't keep up. Then of course four months later I realize how much I'm dying to get a particular pony and I end up paying ridiculous eBay prices.

waves

around here if you see them buy them! they are here and gone never to return. the pegs just sit empty until the next wave hits.

Re:

Here they do stay a pretty long time so I have learnt to wait till' there's sales and so forth and buy them then and not right away. It's only just a while ago that the Butterfly Island collection disapeard completly from here. Usually there's a mix and as soon as new releases are made the oldest are taken away.

I do agree on that they do come out with extremely lots of ponies in a horribe speed, but who can complain really? =)

same here. :?

Yeah, things definitely seem to be moving a lot faster than they used to. I was able to still find plenty of Friendship Ball themed ponies until my Toys R Us closed a little less than a year ago, but I haven't even seen all ponies of all waves before the next one appears and the previous wave goes bye-bye for eternity.

some of the new ones i have yet to see here and i just FOUND cherrilee here tonight. its mostly that orange sparkel pony and wistle wishes on teh shelves.

Here it depends. You never know which will sit until they are clearanced and which will be gone in a flash.

The newest wave of ponies I have seen once in my area, the wave before that only twice. And now Meijer, Walmart, and Target have been pretty bare for the last two months.

Sweet Raspberry, you're so lucky to have a Meijer, Walmart and Target in your area! :D When I finally make the time to venture out to my nearest Target all the ponies I want are long gone!

Here it depends on the store...Target and Walmart are really good about keeping stuff current, and I usually see each set/wave a couple times anyway before they're gone.

With Fred Meyer they let ponies languish on the shelves. Less than 6 months ago I found THREE Rainbow Dash I with charms! And a few weeks after that they had Whistle Wishes...6 or 7 of her. I haven't seen the latest wave there yet, but they still have the sparkly orange/purple set. So they're kind of current now. The BI set and the originals finally disappeared.

That's a really interesting question. I don't collect, but I do check out the pony shelves in Wal Mart and Target just for fun. We don't ever seem to get the new ones in until WAY late, if at all. So I don't have any perception of how long a 'wave' lasts. ;)

In my area, it really depends on the newness of the wave and certain ponies. They usually stick around quite long after the initial frenzy, but certain ponies are really hard for me to find even now. I only ever saw two Silver Rains, a few Brights Brightly, and Star Surprise, and I was rather lucky when I found SR.

Also, in this area, it takes forever for the newest wave to come out. I have no idea when Morning Glory & co. are going to arrive, for the shelves are fully stocked with the Whistle Wishes & co. wave at the moment.

The previous set with Tangerine Twinkle and Flower Garland have been gone from here since December, surprisingly.

in my area its extremely easy to always find ponies.. id say im 25 mins top w/in 6 or 7 wal marts, 5 targets, 3 meijers, and 2 or 3 toys r us'. ontop of 1 kmart about 2 mins from me. some dont take as long to get to 10-15 mins. its all highway though and i live right off of an exit thats 2 miles from downtown columbus,
