I've aquired Majesty recently, but now she's feeling somewhat oily on the inside. On the outside, she seems dry at first, but after you handle her for a while, then your hands start getting an oily feeling that none of the other ponies have.

If she is leaking, do I just leave her in a spot until she's done leaking? (how long does that take?)

Do all ponies (including other generations) have a chance of leaking, or is it only certain ponies from a certain era?

Are hard ponies brittle? (Would they break if you tried to squish them, or are they fairly strong?)

I’ve never had one get brittle. Hard like a rock... maybe if you have enormous hand strength, or hammer them. I would just wash each week or so until the leakage slacks off.

I think Ive tried with some ponies that are rock hard to get off their heads. sometimes its easier to get them off and other times it requires alot of hot water.

I was holding one of my ponies. I couldn't tell if it was sticky, or if my fingers were just oily, but does getting wrinkles on your fingers after holding a certain pony for a while means that pony is leaking? o_O i've washed my fingers, and now the skin around the fingertips feels soooo dry. i'm not sure if leaking plasticiser also has a side effect on your skin...

Thus, for oily you mean sticky?Maybe if some Majesty have this problem and others not it depends also from temperature in which has been kept for a lot of years, more that for plastic, although is possible that some could be degraded since factory and are prone to become oily faster.
As a toy collector of Trasformers,ponies and other 80's I'm very interested in learn more on these things.
And about board,the new Halloween theme is very funny ,for colours and Abracadabra on the scene. :smile: :stir:

I love the new halloween theme! At first it shocked me because, oh wow, this site updated? But I like the new spooky ponies at the top.

for how the ponies feel, I don't think they feel "sticky" yet (but will probably become sticky soon). It feels like if you run your finger along the surface of the pony, it has a extremely thin layer of fresh oil,
or perhaps it has the texture as if you handed the pony for a whole bunch of people to touch, and then you touched the pony itself, and it's as if you can feel the "oil" from everyone else's fingers that touched it previously.

~~~
I went to sleep and woke up. Yep, fingertips still feeling funny because of the dried out skin.
If your pony or fingers start feeling "oily" after you handle a pony, beware, it might not just be oily fingers!
Even touching your own face can leave dirt and oil behind. Always makes me break out and, not only am I a clean nut, but I'm too old for break outs.
The best way to combat a pony leaking plasticizer is to wash it well (inside and out) in a good dish soap (Dawn is best but not available worldwide). Dish soap helps to breakdown the oils that are leaking and the oil/sticky feeling of the pony as it goes through it's natural aging process.
As @Tak had already mentioned, you can absolutely continue to do this process over a period of time until the process is complete. Remember to keep they pony who is leaking away from your other ponies and it will go faster if you leave is out in the air and open (head/body unattached).
As far as your skin, I'm not sure. I have never heard of anyone having that issue after holding a pony whose leaking. I would say it is more likely over exposure to things like soaps and disinfectants without enough moisturizers. In the medical fields, we deal with dry over washed hands all the time and we frequently get hands/fingers that look like yours. I literally have hand moisturizers everywhere (purse, car, work-in several places, home in every room, etc). Remember that anything scented will also pull out moisture from your skin as well, so that can still have drying properties to your skin. ;)
Today I found out that maybe either the pony or my skin is a unique case. (since it reacts that way to both ponies)
The wrinkles on my left hand are still there, (but starting to ease up), but I was bored and tried squishing one of the leaking ponies with my right hand, with a tissue barrier inbetween the hand and my pony.
My left and right hand were dewrinkling at the same rate, but after I touched the horse, my right hand fingertips wrinkled right up again o_O
i can't wait until they harden so I can play with them again.
for anyone out there reading this thread and wondering what a hard pony might be like, stick a pony (one that you don't mind subjecting to extreme conditions) in the freezer for a few hours, and when you take it out, you'll get a rock hard pony for a little while.
