Making a teenage boy pony from a fakie

I'm thinking orange, green and yellow for the orange boy and purple and blues for the other
That sounds pretty and vibrant and summery.

Meet Marmalade the teenage citrus boy.

I'm a bit disappointed I didn't get him sanded smoother on his muzzle. But the finest sandpaper I have here is like 180 and this was with standard acrylic paints which I was having dreadful time thinning. He lost a bit of paint getting his head back on. His hair is from some cheapie hair clips so not easy to style. I also learnt that I should have drilled his new tail hole way bf starting painting lol. Than I could have made it smoother when I was filling up the shower butt holes. I also wasn't game to try painting a second symbol. I found with the cheap acrylics that any error in painting was permanent. I guess sealing the body before painting the symbol would help with that. I used modge podge for sealing but I think I need a billion more coats in future. Live and learn!

He may still get a blaze and freckles to help disguise the lack of sanding on his muzzle.

But for a first go, I think he is OK :)

He has come together very nicely!
All the colours work so well together and you should be very proud of him :winkpony:

Oh I love his colors, and his symbol looks amazingly detailed! <3

Just had to share Merlot's cutie mark. Finally plucked up the courage to try painting a glass. I've done heaps of painting on ceramics but working on plastic with the acrylics in a bit different for me. He's only getting one side because I'm just not confident to do it twice!

Looking fantastic so far. ( I don't have a weakness for purple ponies, what are you talking about?) lol :lolpony:

Awwww thank you <3

I do have to use inspiration pics though, I'm not good at drawing straight from my head. And I'm scatterbrained, choosing just one idea from 50 is impossible hahaha
Aw don't knock ya self! Most artists like yourself use references . Takes years to do things from the head. My bf is 65 and its so funny he can pull things out like a magician but he also went to school for it& has been drawing since 8. It'll happened! That's what he always says to me when I complain about need references
