MLPTP EVENT *~*~MLPTP's Spring Swap 2023!~*~*

There are two different wishlist due dates @Skybreeze
Looks like there was too many mod hands in the pot, it’s been fixed to reflect swap partner assignments so everyone has a list to work from when partners are assigned. :)

The Halloween swap is my favorite too! I'm saving up for it. Plus I have to go to eye doctor and buy new glasses. I haven't been in 4 years!! I can't wait to see all the fun!

The Halloween one is my fav too. I think I want to try all of them once and then I am gonna probably stick to the October one going forward. :D
All the others will shrink and Halloween will become this large misshapen pony-candy-goo monster swap =D

Those who've joined the swap, please remember to have your wish lists posted by tomorrow night.

I will be sending out partner assignments on the 4th (this Saturday) and your partner needs your list to get to shopping.
( @Gingerbread & @darklys we're missing your wish lists. ;) )

All these wishlists are great  I will be happy with any of them! This will be fun :)

Hey everyone!

I have everyone’s partner’s are ready to go!! Please remember our rules about over spending. I know it’s very tempting to spoil our partners and friends but to stay fair please stay within our limits. If you have questions again, please don’t hesitate to send me a message ASAP.

I unfortunately have to dig out of at least three feet of snow this morning. :( When I’m back inside from that I will send everyone your partner details.

Pray for me as I may end up becoming one with the snow today.

EDIT: I’ve just gone ahead and sent everyone your partners and their shipping information. Again, if anyone has any questions please don’t hesitate to send me a message I will get back to you ASAP.

I hope the snow situation gets better.

I think it is weird that we can't be as generous with our friends as we want. Like, swap box and raopk together.

I am not challenging your rules so much as the notion that gifts in the swap are somehow 'not fair'

It bums me out and makes the swap a little less exciting. I don't like focusing on the monetary aspect and now it feels like I have to.

Just my 2 cents as a troublemaker.

Here are my thoughts.

I’m guilty of overspending when I’ve gotten my best pony friend in a swap. I added something to a swap that was clearly over the limit. Although I didn’t pay a huge amount for pony, it looks super extravagant to other participants. I believe I did say it wasn’t technically part of the swap, but it was included in the brag photos.

I’m well aware this can create bad feelings for members who have less means or who simply are observing the rules. The point of these is to be fun and engaging for the community. We don’t want people to feel badly who have met their requirements, but feel overshadowed by others who have gone overboard.

I want to remind people that we have members who have to scrimp and save in order to participate. I would never want someone to feel deflated based on social inequalities and limited means.

If you want to be extravagant with your friends, send a separate RAOPK package. You’ll achieve the same result and your friend can show off their extras in the show and tell forum.

However, if I’m your partner, please ignore what I just said and send me all the ponies!!!

Ok, I’m joking. Obviously. Or not.

This addendum was made after multiple swap participants reached out to us over the past several swaps, voicing their concern that the swap budgets left too much to interpretation, and their concern that some swap participants within the same budget tier were getting as much as 5x the value in their box as others. Some felt left out, and felt that this was unfair. We were asked to make the budget more streamlined, so that everyone gives and receives equally, and everyone is able to enjoy the swap without any hard feelings around inequity.

There is always the option of sending any member on the forum an ROAPK at any time of the year if you're inclined, but for the swaps, we felt we needed to listen to and respond to what was a concern coming from many people personally involved

One thing bought for you already, partner ;)

Having so many rules can sometimes take away from some of the fun but over the years of doing swaps we've done our best to prevent issues and have all participants have a good swap experience. Some of it may come across as strict or excessive but it has all been the result of problems/complaints we've encountered and tried to resolve to continue to make our swaps better. And while sometimes you just can't please everyone we can address past issues and try to find reasonable solutions to give everyone a fair and good experience. As much as I think we all participate with the attitude of just wanting to have some fun and enjoy shopping for another pony friend, it isn't always that simple. Problems with shipping or quality of boxes has taught us there have to be guidelines and it is not unreasonable to expect to get as thoughtful of a swap box as what you gave.

As far as our new addendum regarding overspending, it's easy to spoil your partner and overspend but as some have mentioned, not everyone has the funds to go over and nor should they feel like they have to. A member who spends appropriately should not feel like they didn't give enough because someone else was over-generous. I know we don't always think of it like that but some people have felt that way. Not to mention as we assign the partners we don't want to have any questions of favoritism among any members either. These are all things that participants might not ever even think about but as the hosts we do have to consider. Believe us, we would love to keep it simple but we want to have an event that is fair and fun for all.

But enough about that!

Partner, I've bought ya 2 ponies already *hops around like an excited Easter bunny* :bunny:

Oh no! My partner is doing it again! Introducing me to cute things that I didn’t know existed but now want for myself! :lolpony: Partner, awesome taste!:winkpony:

So, we are aiming to ship by the end of the month?

@Skybreeze if I want to purchase things for my partners family and kids, do I still have to stay on the given budget? Can I do a little more for the family?
I second this question.
I doubt people will appreciate if I send $25 of dog treats in their box, but in the past, I've tried to send something for everyone mentioned in the wishlist. I don't want the furry friends to feel left out, but I don't want a huge portion of the box to not be for the swap partner (and have them be mad at me about it), you know?
Truly not trying to be difficult.

Yes, all packages must be shipped by March 31 and they must have tracking on them.

Yes. The budget stands for your partner’s box entirely, if it’s gifts for themselves/family/partners/pets/etc. you could send any gifts for others as a RAOPK if you like along with the swap box to save on shipping costs and shipping more than one box but please make it clear that they are RAOPK vs part of swap.

No problem, it’s a valid concern and question with this new rule.
Same as I mentioned above, you may send a RAOPK along with your box but please make it clear what is RAOPK vs swap box value. :)
