For Christmas I got three HQG1C blanks, one being a surprise one which was this glittery boy!
Here is the design for him, the base is from The Big Ol’ Custom Blank Base Collection by @Twinkle-eye

I may add white in his mane. My idea came from when I dusted some hooves on a G4 pony custom for my best friend and I wanted to put it on my next custom too because I liked how it turned out. Also, I sort of wanted to go my sort of style when colouring drawings instead. The mane and tail colour choice is so I can put some spare pony hair to use, the one I got when restoring a Baby Bouncy in particular.

His name comes from when I saw some snowy animals in the tundra on TV and then mainly from the Tundra Rap in The Mighty Boosh that I saw recently, it kept coming in my head.

Now on to the actual pony!
Since he is WIP, this is how he is at the moment:

The methods of adding the blue were kind of experimental. The chalk dusting I used last time wasn’t really showing up on him, I think because of his colour. The last pony was white so I guess that’s why. I then tried to make the chalk a bit wet as putting it on and ended up looking really horrible so wiped it and tried staining with my posca pens instead (what I usually use and used on the hooves) and it worked pretty well!

I put the paint on and the wiped it off. I have accidentally stained a little bit of custom ponies before but only tiny bits and accidental so I had a theory that this’ll work and it did. I then also put my paint on the wipes and rubbed it and it worked too. It took some time though. Then I just rubbed the ears and nose too

His hooves are very blue. The posca colour is ‘blue sky’ from the pastels pack. I am not totally satisfied with painting around his feathering because it wasn’t as neat as I liked and kept having to redo bits.

When I went to see the plan for this for this thread, I was pretty surprised how much of a match he ended up being so far! :Flutter4:

EDIT: Complete! Go straight to the post! Updates are between.

Aaargh! The name! And such a creative use of the glitter base :D
I actually thought maybe going down the icy/snowy route may have felt a bit obvious for a white glitter blank but it was the only thing coming to me. I sorta of want to try a cutie mark for him but nothings coming right now that feels it fits well. Maybe he’ll end up a blank flank, who knows?

Blank flank, or maybe some blue mountains

That blue almost seems to glow like sunlight through a glacier. I can't wait to see this handsome fella finished. Curious what his symbol will be?

Oh he's a handsome boy. I think some Silver tinsel would look so good in the blue hair! I can't wait to see the finished product!

Thank you :lolpony: I haven’t yet totally decided on a symbol yet or if he will have one. The mountains of the tundra are a good shout by Twinkle though. I will have to think and consider

Silver tinsel is such a good idea! I think I actually saw a pack of silver tinsel somewhere recently… it would be good to use some of that up
WOAHH your gradient is so smooth!! And the blue hooves were such a nice choice Lov it
Thank you! I just kept rubbing in the paint with my fingers when wiping it off to help blend it in and smoothen it. My hand went pretty blue afterwards but it seems to have done the trick!

I am now wondering now why I didn’t use my light blue though when I had it out on the table, I forgot all about it

OMG the gradient is flawless!!! You did an amazing job!!! Cant wait for him to be finished!!

taking notes on these clean gradient tips. . . and I hope the blue washes off!!

The blue washed off easily since my paint is water based :winkpony: the wipes were wet wipes and I realised in my last reply I wrote “wingers”. That should be corrected to *fingers. Tiny bits of tissue could work too, I did that to get in the feathering

A sneak peek of what I’m thinking with Tundra:

I was kind of thinking of doing some sort of snow across his side but I wasn’t sure. Also, I found the tinsel! An early idea did include tinsel but I didn’t think I had any so rejected the idea but now I found some so I can use it!

I think that's beautiful! I like how his hooves almost seem to glow, with the bright blue under the feathering. Tundra is a name I have thought about using for a boy, but you beat me to it! :lolpony: He's turning out beautiful!

I was choosing between Ice Flow and Tundra for a name but Tundra seemed to be the one fitting the most. It fits well with a big feathery-hoof boy

Update time! I am absolutely awful at symmetry. I wanted the same on both sides of Tundra but my symmetry sucks. I might have to go over it all once more because it seems my white isn’t flat enough? It also ended up much bigger than I expected

Also, it is time to update the design too. Since he is well and truly a mountain boy, he should have that white in his hair. I decided I’ll make it a white stripe just like the mountain boys.

I got given white hair for Christmas as a surprise shade of hair colour too so I may as well use it now :Flutter4:

Oh dear he has a similar colour scheme to my OC, Atmos. I tried to avoid this

I love it

I love him, and I can't make symbols symmetrical or straight to save my life, even with a ruler/sketch beforehand! LOL! I can't wait to see him done!

His symbol is majestic.
