Hi I need some help. I am unboxing my collection. I haven’t counted recently but I believe there is about 300 ponies, merch (sleeping bag, stuffed ponies, thermos, plateware, movies, oversized hard plastic ponies), all spanning G1-G3 I think. The G1s are all removed from box and played with. Some are in really great condition but some are bait ponies. The G2 are played with and I only have a few. The G3 are all NIB. There are some mail orders and special ponies in the group. I have attached a few pictures. In your experience, is it best to sell them individually based off of the wish lists here? Or is it better to do a big lot? I am not working at the moment due to some medical issues which is prompting this sale. So I do need the money and I would like to maximize my earnings. But like any collector, I know the value is in finding a good deal too. Thanks for any assistance and help.

Oh, how fun!

If you're trying to maximize your earnings, I would definitely sell individually. Big lots are more time efficient, but you'll make less.

Also, you might try to list on local places like Craigslist, local toy shows, etc. If you can sell in person you will probably make a little more because most people will pay with cash, which means no PayPal fees.

That’s good advice. I didn’t think about toy shows. Are there any in the Chicagoland area? I don’t even know about this side of collecting.

Hey Stjarne,
Haha sure! I can get pix tomorrow. I have a bunch of books, a plate set (plastic), a sleeping bag, a purse, some puzzles, a lot of the activity sets, some stickers I think, the tiny tins, I think a coloring book… i’ll dive into pix tomorrow :)

I also have these… I just found!
with regards to the other things, I’m on here for a price check so any advice for a fair price would be helpful. I don’t know if there’s a direct messaging function on this board.

There is a direct messaging function, if you look towards the top right, next to your name, it's called conversations. You can start a message to someone there or by clicking on their name under the avatar and selecting the start conversation :)

As it's been said, to maximize your profit you're probably going to want to sell individually. It's more time consuming but usually yields the most money. As far as prices, I am a G1 collector so I can't help ya much with the later gens but I recommend searching ebay's sold listings and figuring an average that way. There are some links here to help with identification too and instruction on the ebay searching. Prices can fluctuate a lot so I usually look for the last 2 months or so sales and figure an average.

Good luck though :)

Hi Gingerbread,

Thank you for the note. I haven’t even started going through my G1s yet!!
All of my G3’s are new in box so I guess that makes it a little easier to research.
Thank you for the help!

I would buy the Christmas ornaments and stickers from you.

But as others have said, selling individually will gain more profits for you. But also if you sell in groups for merchandise type things too. So like colouring books, a lot of books, etc. I too am more of a G1/G4 collector and can't offer exact pricing but I have seen the G3 plush sells for higher prices especially with tags attached and such. Unfortunately most of the MIB G3's don't sell for much more than $5-10usd at the most, unless of course they're the limited run or fair exclusives.

So much stuff I want but I'm sure they will get picked up before Nov. 1st. I'm going to have to keep watch on this.
