Good news! When my grandparents both passed away I found out they have left their house to me! I will have to do a lot of work to it to make it work for our son but Yay!! I love my home but I can only imagine what living without a mortgage will be like.

How sweet of them. If you like where you are at what if you consider selling or renting their home and staying in yours? You could just use the profit to pay on/off your mortgage? I've been thinking about such things lately, my Dad is getting older and has 3 properties that would become mine when he passes. We've been discussing some of that lately and sorta planning out the future. It seems easier to just sell and be done with it and roll in your pile of money but he's getting ready to retire in the next couple years and having a place to rent will provide income indefinitely. It can be a hassle but there are some good rent management companies that will handle a lot of that for you. You do pay a fee but you still come out in the green. It's something to consider, around here I could easily charge 1000./month rent on one of his houses, after putting aside for tax/fees/etc. I'd still be looking at about 700./month which is more than half my monthly mortgage and is steady income that carries on after retirement.

Now, if your grandparents house is bigger and better and worth moving into than I say go for it! Moving is always a lot of work but think about it in the long-run :)

Very good idea! The thing is that it has a full basement that is mostly finished, we just need to add a bathroom down there. As my son grows up we want to have a place he can feel like can be his without having to be too far away. I don't know what his future holds so this house will be perfect to make this work! I know I will have to get a construction loan to do what needs to be done and that we will have to pay off. Something to think about though!!

That was so sweet of them to leave you their house. I hope thing go great and you can get it dolled up and your family will have many happy years there.

@OctoberMoon What fantastic news! It was so kind of them to do this. I know it'll take some careful consideration, but it's a wonderful windfall!

Just two weeks til my birthday I am so excited.

My left hand is working again! It took some serious time healing. The surgery was before thanksgiving! The scar tissue is still sitting right on a nerve and I have the spasms of working to strengthen my hand again, but, it was worth it. No numbness, no more dropping things, I can crochet, sew, and do pretty much anything with it again! It won’t take long to build my thumb muscle back up and I’ll be good as new! Yay! :D

That’s fantastic news! What kind of exercises do you have to do for your thumb? All I picture is teeny tiny weights for just your thumb. :lolpony:

I have a tin of 'crazy Aaron's thinking putty'. It's like playing with silly putty or dough. It's great for working my thumb. The most important thing is to just use it as regularly as possible now. I played some minecraft dungeons with E, too, for a little range of motion exercise. lol (I'm picturing little thumb weights now, too, and little finger size therabands.)

That’s amazing! I actually just finished a game on switch that you’d probably enjoy. It’s a fun fantasy thinking adventure type game. It’s called Röki, check it out on the switch store and it frequently goes on sale for about $5-10.

A fighting game would be a great work out for your thumb! Lol
