G2 Numbers on hoofs?

I've noticed there's numbers on the hoofs of G2 ponies, generally where it states Hasbro. Such as number's 1, 2, 3 of 4.

Is this the release /wave of certain characters? (Release 1 of Ivy, second release (2) of Ivy for example)

or something else? I can't seem to find anything google about it. I am curious.

The pretty parlour Ivy I sent for moulding for Porject G2 Re-Do has a weird number carved into her front right hoof (not the hasbro hoof, the other front one). It said 'A46' and clearly had been mechanically punched in, fairly sure it must have been done at the factory

That's interesting. I have 4 G2 ponies, so I checked them. Three of them are in the same pose, and there is a "2" next to Hasbro, and on the other hoof there are different numbers: A52, 68, 106. The 4th pony is different, she has a number "1" and a 42.
