I feel like showing off my Lucy. Of course I always feel like showing her off. XD post your pets and their stories too!

Here’s her long origin story but feel free to skip to the fluff:

We got her in fall 2020, our friend in Denver, who is basically Cat Whisperer Lady, found her and couldn’t keep her. Cat Whisperer Friend has six cats (all kittens at various ages at the time) and when they brought Lucy into the house the only time that we’ve ever seen her his was then at the boys. So she brought her to the local no kill shelter, where she had to be anyway to see if she was microchipped or if anyone was looking for her. And no. And then I had to wait another month for her to get a clean bill of health and be able to be adopted out.

I called once a week for two weeks, and then they put down my name for her to be contacted when she was ready to be up for adoption. And then nearly a month from when I first laid eyes on her on the picture and had tried to start this process, 10 minutes after I turned to my fiancé and asked “do you think I should give up on her?“ They called me. XD

We live in New York and our friend had to be the one to pick her up after I e-signed the paperwork and paid for her, and bring her to her parents’ place to stay for a while. About a week later we were able to get in the car and take the long road trip down to Denver to see them and get our Lucy and drive back here to New York. It was deep into 2020 so the pandemic was a concern because the vaccine hadn’t shown up yet, but we stayed to ourselves on the road, only stayed with our friend and hubby, and all got tested afterward.

Lucy is a Persian, we can tell by her attributes and not because we have any paperwork. And unfortunately the previous owner declawed her in the front. Which makes my blood boil, who lets their fancy cat be fixed, get declawed, and then doesn’t microchip her and then isn’t even looking for her when she escapes, but whatever we can always submit our own origin stories. And the vet at the shelter initially said she was 10, but both vets who looked at her after she was adopted said she was at least three maybe five years old. So she’s a mystery. She’s me and my fiancé Paul’s first pet that we own as adults, and he never had pets as a kid though I had cats all our lives growing up.

She’s an angel with the cutest Mrow noise that can go as high as a clipped, almost chirpy noise to a hoarse little old lady drawn out MRRROOOoooOOOoowww. She sleeps right on our pillows between our heads and is the only cat I ever had that doesn’t sleep in the window or a sunbeam. She actually runs pretty hot due to all the fur and when she gets up, the spot she was laying in is mad warm.
