I think this belongs in art as it is an artform - apologies mods if I'm wrong.

I'm curious to see and discuss everyone's pony cosplays, especially how people approach turning colourful horses into human fashions!

I haven't seen pony-themed costuming discussed in my short time here and it's something I've been wanting to get back into. I actually had one of my best ever cosplay experiences as a teen at UK Ponycon with my first (and currently only) pony cosplay! It was 2013-ish I think, definitely around a decade ago, and I was in my mid teens. I had spent hours designing and sewing a gothic lolita style Princess Luna costume (no photos survived sadly). I was SO proud of it! I'd never entered a cosplay contest before but I was extremely nervous, I remember describing how I made it to the judges who were all very kind ladies and thinking 'oh they have so much more experience this probably looks terrible to them'. When they announced I placed first I cried a little, it meant so much to me to have my hard work validated by people I looked up to, and to be a winner at something that was such a big part of my identity.

I still have my ribbon rosette prize, which I think is going to become an oversized decoration on my Dream Castle when my pony shelves get a makeover, and I actually work professionally as a Disney Princess now as well as cosplaying other characters in my spare time.

I feel as though it's time for a second, long overdue pony cosplay! I'm absolutely obsessed with @Roccoco 's G2 Ivy design (there's a thread with a load of G2 fashion designs by them)

I'd love to see everyone's pony cosplays of all generations

P.S. if any of the lovely ladies who judged that cosplay contest are here, thank you so much for making a struggling teen girl feel like her hobbies and talents were recognised and respected for the first time ever and playing a part in giving me the confidence to follow them professionally. Your probably don't remember me but I definitely still remember you!

Aw too bad you don’t have pictures but that’s so cool that you were able win the ribbon for it :lolpony:
I totally know how you felt when talking to the judges! My first time entering a cosplay contest (an anime character not a pony) I was super proud of my costume but knew they were all way more experience at sewing and stuff than I was and was so happy to win a judges choice award  it definitely made me want to keep going and getting better.

What Disney princess do you work as, that sounds pretty fun

That's pretty neat that oyu get to cosplay professionally, especially as something Disney! I would love to hear more about that experience.

G2 Ivy would be so pretty! I hope you'll share your progress with us. I've only cosplayed a simple G4 Applejack for Halloween and also I was Queen Rosedust for a pony meet (which I felt a little embarrassed to learn there was no costume contest so no one else was wearing one! Oops!)

That’s awesome!!! I do still have the costume even though I don’t have photos of me wearing it and I’m pretty sure I couldn’t squeeze into it now haha

I don’t work in the parks, I run my own business where parents hire me for parties, so I do all of them who are appropriate for me! My favourite is Cinderella but like 90% of the time I’m Elsa. I love Frozen so it’s great, but Elsa is still exceptionally popular with kids! I’ve also been Barbie which was a blast, and Santa‘s elf at Christmas

Hey you shouldn’t have been embarrassed about that :) I don’t remember who it’s from but you know that quote about always better to be over dressed than under dressed  And I’m sure everyone thought it was cool and wished they’d dressed up too

@Grace Ruby well at least you still have the costume ^_^
Ohh cool! Fun that you get to switch it up sometimes, and you look great as Elsa there!

Oh wow fantastic! So nice to see the effort everyone goes to at cons

I am unsure of what is "PFF" but woah !! Those cosplays are awesome !
You seem like a perfect fit for pinkie pie, I can sense the happiness emerging from you !

The rainbow dash one is very cool as well, it made me remember that episode where Twilight panicks and see the catastrophic future ahah (not sure which one, i'll check it)

Squee! Cosplay is fun! E and I both have one for pff this year. Nothing super fancy, and we still need 1-2 finishing touches. E loves dream smp, MHA, and fnaf cosplay.

Seeing everyone showing their cosplays inspired me to do some deep internet digging and I was able to find 2 very low res photos on a stranger’s Facebook by searching ‘Ponycon 2012’. Credit goes to Sarah Spearey for these photos!

So here’s a little tiny baby teenage me, a whole decade ago, winning the cosplay contest as Princess Luna and then dancing outside to ….. I think it was Gangnam Style ….. I miss the 2010s haha what a wild time

just wanted to say you look absolutely precious as mabel! :twohearts:
Thank You ♥

I know I didn't have her braces, but I've already done that in my real middle school life and don't wanna relive it xD haha

edit: oh! and I made my Mabel shirt hand made! lol Sewing and Fabric Glue

I love seeing everyone’s cosplays :satisfied: They’re always so fun and creative
Let’s see, I don’t have a lot of pics on my phone cause they’re older, also not pony related but here’s me at anime nyc in 2019 that was soo much fun
