I have a bunch of ponies that need sun faded, and some of them have white hair. I know you should usually cover the hair to avoid fading the color, but I'm just wondering if the sun will affect white hair at all? Is it even necessary to cover it?

Actually, white pony hair sometimes seems to turn a bit yellow with age. Could sun fading possibly fix this and make the hair white again, or does sunlight actually cause the yellowing somehow?

i would wrap it up incase it would get yellowed, but maybe it would be fine? depends on the pony. if i was sunfading a common pony i wouldn't be too bothered with it, but for example YumYum i would wrap up regardless

It would really depend on how your planning on sun fading.

If your going to use peroxide cream, yes I would suggest protecting the hair. If your going to do H202 bath then no, but I wouldn’t soak with saturated colours (neons especially).

You should always be cautious when sunfading and try to keep an eye on them and remove them as soon as you notice any difference in hair tones or symbols. Unless your okay with painting/rerooting.

What if I'm just leaving them in the sun with no peroxide or cream or anything? That's mostly what I've been doing, and I've found that it eventually works to fade stains in most cases.

Yea the sun is pretty powerful on it's own. That's actually better if it works because less chemicals on the plastic. It's really just your preference with the hair, just keep an eye on it and know you are taking a risk you know? Where do u live and how long do you leave them in the sun? Also I would think the stain would be less severe? Like moderate discoloration? Also what color are the ponies it has worked on? Spill the details, I'm fascinated!:lolpony::fizzy::CJ::sunbeam::starshine::mimic:

Yeah that's what I figured, less chemicals is probably better. Though it's also partly because I just didn't have any of the products when I first started doing this lol. I live in the midwestern US, and it's pretty cloudy here in winter but we get a good amount of sun this time of year, so my window sill is going to be full of ponies this spring and summer! How long I leave them just depends on how bad the stain is. Some minor ones will be gone within a few days, while others will take months. I just keep checking on them until I'm satisfied. I have actually seen some stains disappear completely; it's pretty cool how it works! And I've done it on all colors of ponies. I've found sun fading can also fix general discoloration. Often times ponies will get a dull yellowish tone to them with age, which I've noticed seems to stand out especially on blue ponies. When I get a pony like this, I just stick her in the sun for a couple days and she turns bright blue again. I love sun fading. It's like magic!
