I've only collected for a few months and I keep forgetting some of the names. To counter this, I have the ponies displayed with their name (if i can cut it out), and a brush in front of them. Even then, I sometimes can't remember a few of them. When I decided to finally put them all out for display so I could organize them for the pony meet (I had them in a bin till then :( ), I kept mistaking sapphire shores for another one. I mistook her for summer shores (the names are similiar), and couldnt find her. Does anyone have any trouble remembering the names of their ponies?

Sorry sapphire shores. I should of remembered your pony better :cry:

I managed to keep up with them until the pegs/scented were released, for the G3's. I still forget some of my G1's.

G3 names? No way. I remember the names of the very first G3's but not the ones that came after them.

G1 names on the other hand I remember very well ;)

G3's are really hard for me to remember, especially the new ones coming out. I also put little name tags by them

G3 ponies...I'm not so hot. I know all the newer ones I have because they're not in the cupboard yet. And I know the early ones. Some of the ones in between that didn't come out in the UK are a bit blurry, but I keep the cards for each so I can check up on them if need be.

G1 - my brain kinda absorbed that information over time. Where they're concerned I'm usually ok ;) I perfected the recognising a pony across the carboot field from just a horn technique when I had to beat the dealer to the table...and applying the same technique to Ebay means I tend to remember.

The only slightly weak spot I have is with some of the SHS ponies :S Oh yes, and I can never remember the American names for the secret surprise ponies. But since a lot of collectors don't even know some sets had different names in the UK, I guess I can be excused ^_^.

Taffeta - brain like a sponge (but only where pony info is concerned!)

I only collect the G3's and I cant remember their names half the time. Or if someone names a G3, sometimes I forget what that particular pony looks like, such as body color/hair color/symbol! I dont have room to display my ponies so they're all stored away right now. If I displayed them all and looked at them everyday, I would probably remember their names better.

I know most of the G1 names, but I admit I have a hard time keeping up with the G3's. I bet there's quite a few I don't even remember the names of.

G3s I forget sometimes. G1s I'm pretty good with, except for some of the SHSs and Sea Ponies. And foreigns - don't know all them yet, lol.

Anyone ever have pple go, 'How do you KNOW all of those?!?' :lol:

So last night my husband and I were watching the MLP first season dvd (yes, I married a patient man, lol!) and I started naming the ponies in the cartoons. My husband was amazed and just stared at me. We decided that Buttons was definently the coolest pony in the cartoons, but then again I am biased. G1s I am generally pretty good with, except for the sets that I don't collect such as Princesses, BNGs, SHS, Happy Tails, etc. I also don't know any of the foreign names really at all. G2s I only know the names of the ones that I own, and if I were to come across one at a yard sale, I probably couldn't name them. G3s, like others have said, are really hard for me. A lot of the names seem so similar to me. I also think that I have a hard time b/c I generally buy G3s in bulk when they are first released and I don't spend time stalking them on ebay like I do G1s. I know all of the first few years of ponies, but then things tend to get fuzzy. I have a really hard time with the birthstone set b/c I bought most of them all at once.

i can name all of the ponies in my g3 collection, as well as in my personal g1 collection (which is fairly small). i can't usually ID a g1 pony on the spot, though, unless it's a fairly common one. i don't remember their names very well. ._.;

I don't usually have a problem remembering the ones I have... (around 150 mixed G1 & G3) but the ones I don't I have to look up sometimes. *has very bad memory* ^^;

names

I know all the names of my 100+ G3's. But my daughter has a harder time with the newer ones, so we started this game, it is really fun. I say "If I were a pony I would be, (then I list hair color, body color, and symbol)" then she has to guess who I am. Then it is her turn and I have to guess. I must say it is more fun than playing I spy. She is starting to learn some of the newer pony names that way.

I used to do that. I put my ponies on my computer desk, and every night, I sit there and try to remember all their names. So far, I've got all but one pegged down. Rainbow Flash keeps catching me out.

For some reason, I'm really good with remembering the names of the g3 ponies. I think it's because I talk about them and/or play with them a lot. (I'm such a child... e_e; ) Even my brothers can name almost all of the ponies on sight, just from listening to me all the time. My mother, though, has this weird habit of tacking "Surprise" onto the end of every pony's name, or--if they have a two-word name--replacing the second word with "Surprise." "Pinkie Surprise," "Aloha Surprise," "Minty Surprise," etc. I don't know WHY she does that, either!

I'm not as good at remembering G3 names as I'd like to be. They are pretty redundant names, usually.

I'm especially horrible at remembering their sets. Sparkle, Glitter, Dazzling, aahhhh! And having tinsel, jewels, and glitter all in the Perfectly Pony line... that's just horribly confusing. What are you thinking, Hasbro!?

I'm great at remembering all of the ponies names that I'm familiar with, G3s and G1s. If it is a pony I have then I always know the name. I also know all the names of the G3s I don't have that are out and most G1 names, unless they were ones that didn't interest me much (like Drink n wets).

I know those which matter to me...

I know the names of most of the ones I like. I do not know the names of most of what I do not like. I'm better with the older ones than the newer ones. I have no clue with sea ponies.

G2's & G3's I haven't a clue.
