Sad news today:

As many of you know Robin Williams and wept over his death, well, "Mexican Robin Williams" died today.
Roberto Gomez Bolaños, AKA "Chespirito" died this morning of a heart illness. He was the star of El Chavo Del 8, El Chapulin Colorado and others.

This is all the information I have by now.

RIP Chespirito. A new star is up in the Sky for you :)

New info; He died 1:45 pm today and there is an event for people to dress up as one of his characters and to bring a flower to "show him" how much we miss him now :,)

I swear I never cried like this before (except for Jenni Rivera and Robin Williams :,))

Aw, I loved his El Chapulin Colorado. He was so wacky! That's a darn shame.

"Oh! Now who would be able to help me?"

I KNOW WHO!

EL CHAPULIN COLORADO! *sniff* That will never get old
So sorry to hear that :(
Never watched his shows but still sad that he died :(
It is very sad, knowing people from all over the world watched the show and that he was very loved. Also, I think I have a recording somewhere...Not sure, but I could post it here...

Iam sad but I never heard of this actor or comedian

Most people in the States know Chespirito from the loving homage of his character Crimson Grasshopper, The BumblebeeMan on the Simpsons. But Bolaños wasn't just a great comedic actor, he wrote, directed, produced...

While is isn't as well known in the US, he had a pretty big career in Mexico and all over Latin America, heck all over the world! Sadly his films aren't as noted here in the States, and it's a darn shame. I believe a good deal of his routines actually inspired Jerry Lewis. You'll note if you ever compare the two, that their characters are quite similar, but Bolaños had typically 'done it first' so to speak. He was a truly gifted man, and quite generous. He did a lot of charity work with children. He'll decidedly be missed.

For non Spanish speakers, some of his films and comedy sketches are translated, notably The Crimson Grasshopper (aka El Chapulin Colorado), the role that assured his place in film history. He was also in a delightful parody of Citizen Cane: El Ciudadano Gómez. Super funny stuff.

You, my friend, did a better job than me explaining this stuff. You deserve a round of applause

Aw, thank you. I have a deep respect for Latin American entertainers. I'm a HUGE fan of El Santo films and Mexico's comedy films.

Hah! I'd be the worst housekeeper you ever met. Seriously, if you saw my house, you would roll up a newspaper and beat me with it.

I would love to come hang out though!

Yep, I went to straight away to google to search. I didn't reconize his face :/I haven't seen any his movies/series (except simpsons). But quite a career he had :). I'm not sure if some of hisshows has ever been shown in here unfortunately :(.
But rest in peace now. I'm sure many of his fan will remember him!
