Salon 40 Creme - a bunch of questions

I finally got some! And a UV lightbox! So... how exactly do you use the salon creme? I know you paint it on... but I am unclear about all these things:

1 Does it still work if there is no sun or UV lightbox (even a little)?

2 If the pony is discolored, do you paint the whole body? I've read on here people use it for spot treatment, but CAN you use it for fullbody yellowing?

3 With delicate ponies, do you need to wash it off after a short amount of time?

4 Does the applied creme stop working after a certain amount of time? How often do you reapply it to stubborn stains?

5 Is it like paint stripper where you have to blob it on, or does it still work if you paint a thin layer?

Thanks for anything you can share with me!

1) I think the way sunfading like this works is that UV interacts with the salon cream and that is what fades discoloration! I'm not sure there would be noticeable effects without UV.

2) You absolutely can! You may have to rotate what you're fading around so that UV reaches it, though- less important for lightboxes where the light bounces around.

4) Salon cream loses it's effectiveness over time when exposed to UV and has to be reapplied. I've seen ballpark estimates of every 2/3 hours to reapply, though I haven't personally sunfaded so maybe someone else has a better answer?

5) I've only ever seen people apply thick layers- you may be able to paint a thin layer but I would imagine it would have to be reapplied more often.

You can do thin layers, I often do, and tbh, I usually only put the cream on once or twice in a day (too lazy to do otherwise, lol). I have left the cream on ponies long term, and I haven't yet noticed a problem, though it could of course hurt their hair (I wrap their hair in tin foil so it doesn't get faded as well).

If you apply a thicker coat you don't want it to be so thick you can't check on the pony to make sure they're doing alright. I usually end up fading the whole pony at once since I never seem to notice that they're actually yellowed.
