That is really interesting that they made a way for plastic to be converted to vanilla flavoring with processes, but.....I think I will just stick to the natural vanilla.....
I just would wonder if that would be safe to consume long term? Anyway, thanks for sharing! I learned something new today!

Margarine is only two molecules from being plastic.

I already skip margarine and I'll definitely be skipping the strange vanilla! I think they should keep reclying plastic bottles into plushies, much better idea!
I agree. We already use recycled plastic for clothes, shoes, bags etc.

Craft American Cheese might be two molecules of actual cheese for all we know. :rolleyespony:
I always wondered what ‘pasteurized processed cheese food’ really meant, and that’s on the name brand stuff. I’m so glad that my girl likes the sharp cheddar. We went to the Tillamook cheese factory and got to see it being made.

Really?!! I will never look at margarine the same now. :surprisepony:It’s so amazing how those small variations change the whole substance.
Isn’t it?! I found out about the cheese and margarine and now I check labels. Here’s two more (not gross, promise) for you. Most brown sugar that isn’t actually c&h or organic, is actually just processed white sugar with molasses added back in! You’d might be surprised at the difference in taste when using it. Butter does the same thing. Some less spendy kinds are ‘milk and sweet cream’ on the ingredients instead of say ‘butter and salt’ on the real stuff. I won’t touch peanut butter ingredients on here, lol. It could start an argument.

Ditto, I just go with the real stuff and try to use less. Butter makes my shortbread much tastier anyway. ;)

Benches, light fixtures, we reuse the bags at home before they even go to be recycled most of the time. They’ve also started to charge extra for bags at many stores here. It stopped a while for covid, but it’s back again.

It's actually a long held sci fi concept: food from garbage. In fact, I recall it even being stated in Ridley Scott's film Alien that their food was made from human waste. It was expanded upon in the very fine novelization written by Alan Dean Foster.

I will now go be a nerd elsewhere. :D

Would you be speaking of soylent green? :lolpony: SNL did a skit. ‘Soylent cowplop’. ‘Soylent cowplop is made out of <spoiler> all this time we thought we were eating cowplop!’ Why do I still find poo jokes funny?.

Sheri S Tepper had a marvelous version in her novel ‘beauty’, too.

Cool! I’ll definitely keep an eye out for those. That would be nice to use both brown sugars and compare the difference....maybe I’ll make it a weekend project. :) Lol, a peanut butter argument would definitely be a sticky situation! :lolpony:

This is pretty interesting imo, honestly a lot of food we eat would make you gag if you found out how it was made. I wonder if this is safe. A lot of the descriptions in the article sent alarm bells thru my head but I’m also not a scientist.

There’s so much junk in what many of us eat. That’s why there’s such a huge movement for organic, local, and homegrown. Unfortunately, all that good stuff tends to be much more expensive (even the gardening if you can’t compost and don’t have great soil/environment). Probably best we not pick at it anymore. I’m sorry if I upset anyone with my previous posts.
