Recently purchased some g3 ponies off a seller, they got delieverd today and sadly they reeked of smoke, does anyone know how i can get the odor out and make them smell nice? :(

That's too bad, I'm sorry. There's a few threads on here that might be of help, here is a link to one. Thread 'How do I get rid of smoke smell on my pony? What about other smells?' https://www.mlptp.net/index.php?thr...ll-on-my-pony-what-about-other-smells.115776/
I do remember that someone mentioned putting them in an airtight container with dryer sheets or baking soda to adsorb the smells. It might take a while.

Thank you so much, this will help alot for sure! This is actually the first time this sort of thing has happened to me so i'm just not quite sure what to do the seller i got them from said they were from a smoke free home, but once they got here and i opened the package, all i could smell was smoke, super disappointing... Thanks again.

Woah, never heard of that method before, how does it work?

I assume it just soaks up the smell? Maybe you stick the pony in a tub with the litter all over it... don't let the cat find it, though. >.>

Be sure to give the pony a thorough clean and get any tar or buildup off of (or out of, if you can) the vinyl. I'd probably take the time to take out the metal washer at this step, too, and give the tail a very thorough wash. Google says "Mix together ¼ cup white vinegar, ¼ cup washing soda, ½ cup ammonia and one gallon of hot water" for vinyl furniture, but I'd probably omit the ammonia. Washing soda is like Borax and is super cheap, but maybe a bit hard to find. The grocery store (assuming you're in the US) would have that in the laundry aisle. Coffee grounds, cat litter, baking soda, dryer sheets are all good for neutralizing odors, and I would stick the (thoroughly dry) pony in a not-quite airtight container (don't want mold here, that's a whole other issue) with one of these ingredients for a while.

Vinyl is super porous, so I wouldn't be surprised if the smell is stubborn. I'd scrub the pony down in hot, hot water (hot enough to make the vinyl a bit malleable, like you were taking off a head) and then the homemade cleaning solution.

Best of luck to you and your ponies!

Yeah, it does take awhile :/ It took me two weeks to de-stink a Cherries Jubilee. I washed her in oxy two separate times and then covered her in a baking soda paste and left her for days covered in crusty stuff XD

I haven't had to deal with a stinky horse yet, thankfully, but I'm dreading the day I have to semi-mummify a pony for the greater good

ugh, cigarette smoke is the absolute worst!

There's a few suggestions to try after you've thoroughly washed inside and out with dishsoap and/or oxyclean:
-Baking soda in one bowl, white vinegar in another bowl, place in a tub with ponies between bowls and seal it air tight container(This worked mostly for me)
-Leave outside in the sun for a few weeks (or use a light box)- this helped me too
-Airtight bin with coffee beans (someone tried this and said it worked- forgot who..)

Smoke smells are stubborn and a pain, it take take a long time to get rid of it. I've had a batch that was horrible, worst ever- took over a month before I stopped smelling anything from them.

Please be careful with vinegar, as it can permanently damage the features of some ponies <3

My solution is airing. I have a G3 Sew-and-so and a G4 Cadance (talking) who had this problem. Sew-and so's smell was faint but Cadance's was quite strong. I did the regular cleaning. I put Cadance in a bag with baking soda, but it didn't help so much. The wings were very smelly, so I put them in oxi soak, and because the wings were also discolored, I put peroxide cream on them for sunfading, and I put her on the balcony.

Cadance spent about 2 weeks in the balcony (I completely forgot about her), and when I checked her, the smell was gone. I left outside Sew-and-so for 2 days and she's fine now. So my conclusion is just time and fresh air would help.

Thank you! I will try that :)
