Snow!

Good news! Trudged through a foot a snow to my car only for it not to start /sarcasm
I’m so sorry. That’s happened to me, too. It’s awful.

Here’s a worse situation to hopefully make you feel a little better since most batteries have trouble being left in the cold for a while. My dad had to leave for work at 4:30am to be on time. We were living in a rental up in the mountains at the time. It had no garage and the driveway went steeply downwards towards to house before leveling out. Just dirt, or mud, no pavement. One morning my dad went out and got the car started. He’d always sit in it and let it run for ten minutes before moving since it was an older car. When he tried to back out, it wouldn’t move! He had to wake up my mom (scary) and ended up taking the minivan to work. When he got home, it was already dark, he had to figure out what was wrong with his car. It turned out that the emergency brake had frozen solid. He had to jack it up and use my mom’s old hair dryer to thaw it out. Ever since, we all run outside and release the e-brakes on our cars if it’s going to drop below freezing. Unless it’s in a garage.

Oh no! I'm assuming mine's just to cold to turn over. I live in apartments so my hair dryer won't reach unfortunately lol

Mine goes for months unused in my garage. I ended up teaching my daughter how to start it. If we don’t start it every month or so then my dad has to bring over his little portable battery charger and help me out. He’s a good dad. Good luck with it. You can use hand warmers or a battery space heater to try to warm it.

We had a bit of snow but mostly ice today. Sadly it all was gone around noon.

I'll trade summer for your snow ❄️ haven't seen snow for over two years now and miss it so bad. Skiing is definitely one of my favourite things, just the feeling of zooming down the hill and the quiteness.

We had a second "winter storm" a couple of days ago or so but I feel like we only got maybe 1-3 inches out of it. Kinda disappointing. But between this and mid-December snow we have had the best winter for snow by a longshot post-February 2011 (I would say altogether we got around 15-17 inches total for the season... Many of the winters in between 2011 and now we've gotten nothing but a trace total, not even joking). It's nice. I really had given up hope on snow in NE Oklahoma after so many practically snowless winters in a row.

Tomorrow it's supposed to get above freezing. I've enjoyed the cold, as I said in my last post I have rejoiced this cold spell because it has saved us from many, many bugs. But all of the snow on the ground makes it kinda dangerous to drive and I have a medication I need by Sunday, so, eh. I just hope it doesn't warm straight back up into the 60s/70s. It is still winter, Oklahoma, so act like it at least a little. :madpony:

Another NE Okie! :lolpony:
I was just telling my dad we hadn't had a real good snow since 2011. Near froze in our dorms cause they were so drafty. We all piled in the common room sleep and ordered a mountain of pizza cause they closed the dining hall and we couldn't get out. Tipped the poor pizza guy like $40 lol.

I'm so glad my parents were able to move back here from Texas. It's a real disaster zone right now. :/

And I was so disappointed because when I went to university several years ago to finish my bachelor's degree, snow was practically non-existent. It was one month before I graduated - April - when I saw the first snow fall there. Completely absurd. And it was April, so it wasn't much, but it did give us a trace to a dusting which is super impressive for April lol.

I never really got to see the campus in actual snow. =/ But I did live in an upstairs apartment, so the less ice we had the better, I suppose.

I have a good friend down in Texas. She was posting pictures of her indoor temperature which at one point said 43 degrees. I can not imagine. That's so scary.

I’m worried about Evilbunnyfoofoo. I hope she and Hank are ok. My dad explained what happened to the electric companies in Texas and it’s awful.

If you went to NSU we might've bumped into each other lol. I went from 2010-2013 and again in 2016-2017 (still haven't finished my degree haha -_-; )

My Texas family/friends are doing ok. But so many aren't. The stories coming out about elderly folks getting stuck at home and freezing to death break my heart :(

Oh no, I didn’t know they lived in Texas. My brother was showing me some pictures a friend of his who lives there took and it was pretty bad :/ their pipe burst and the kitchen floor was like a sheet of ice (they’re staying with family now so they’re ok)

Hmmmmm maybe my assessment of snowy winter places doesn't take account for the bad bad weather? I just want the skiing snow lol. But wow, some of the cold temps that have been spoken of and things like frozen pipes, I've not experienced and just totally cannot imagine. I hope you guys in wintry places all stay safe.

Hello the internet has returned and so have I, and after my recent experiences with snow I can reaffirm my past statement about snow, and my disliking of it.

Also our power was never out long with the rolling blackouts so that was good, and we haven't had any pipes burst so far and we should be in the clear for that now that the snow is gone, and the internet was out from the 15th to just a few hours ago.

I'm glad your ok! I was worried your power was out, and that your animals were cold!

I was worried, too. I've had to go months without internet before and it's disturbing how much we've come to rely on it. I'm so glad you are back online through. *happy dance*
