I was looking over the Pony Preservation Project site and saw that there isn't really a good replacement for twinkle eye iridescence (at least according to this one site), but looking at the below screenshot:

It made me think of one of the nail polishes from ILNP: https://www.ilnp.com/nail-polish/undenied/ There's a very light glitter to it, but I think it could be real close.

I've ordered it and will report back on how it works as a restoration, since I have a few TE ponies that need it. :) If anyone has any other solutions, please let me know!

I would be more curious as to the long term efficacy of nail polish, that stuff is not really meant as a long term paint. It would probably be a good idea to seal it, or seal one eye and not the other and see how they compare- both how they look after sealing, and how long each one lasts.

That's a great idea!
Thanks! Also, looking at those pics from Pony Preservation...do they have something against Sweet Stuff?:blink:It's like they went to Dream Valley and gouged a million violet gems :surprisepony:

Haha! From the site, I think those are actually reproduction replacements, so there aren't extremely sad sweet stuffs out there

I just saw something made by Folk Art called Flash Iridescent Metallic Top Coat. That might work better, but if it does work, I think it would require a sealant.
I've used that stuff, though not for eyes. I really like it.

@Seespotbitejane does it peel after a while, or can that be stopped with sealant? Many of the reviews mention it peels after a while, (including a crafter who is going to reapply before sending it to a customer, because it peeled...hope she seals it before that!). If sealant will keep it from peeling, I would love to try it.

I haven't had an issue with peeling but I've also never left it unsealed. I've also used it mixed with a glaze.

Hmmm, how old are the oldest projects you've used it on? I think I'm getting interested!

I'm honestly not sure. My most recent project was back in February or March, but I've had the stuff for at least a year and I've used it for several things. I've also mixed it with paint to give a more subtle effect. So again, can't speak to how it does on it's own.
