I've wondered before if there's any differences with the Basic Fun remakes of G1 ponies and I haven't really found any comparison pictures before. I haven't got any G1 ponies but they do interest me.

If I was to find any in a charity shop or at a bootsale that was loose, is there a way to tell? I like to look out for ponies when I go to charity shops you see and I am yet to come across some
Does Basic Fun ponies have "BASIC FUN" wrote on a hoof or the year? I have noticed with the Basic Fun Gusty that her pink stripe goes through her mane and not one side but I could be wrong

Since I am most familliar with G3 ponies I can tell what changes there seem to be but not with G1 ponies.
If anyone could show a side by side comparison that'll be great :winkpony:

I found this video on Windy:

At least there appears to be difference on the hoof, having an ink number. (And Basic Fun Windy, if you watch the video closely, you'll notice her mane cut is different, specifically the hair closest to the nose is shorter on the basic fun version).

The plastic of the repros are harder.

The heads turn easily.

I haven't popped any open to see if there are metal washers, or something else.

The hooves have either The Bridge Direct or Basic Fun Inc.and My Little Pony stamped on them, along with the new date.

Some of the ponies have an extra color stripe in their tails, like Moondancer and Sparkler.

Rainbowdash has been reported to have her hair colors mixed up.

Some of the first set Rainbows are scented, and already discoloring because of it.

Sunlight has a noticeable greenish tint. I'm unsure if that's only the scented one, if its due to discoloration, or if that's just the plastic color? I haven't seen any of the unscented rainbows anywhere.

Thank you for the video. I’ll give it a watch! :satisfied: I’m sure it’ll be very helpful

I have a few G3 Rainbow Dashes and I’ve noticed the hair colours mixed up. The G3 Basic Fun ponies feel very strange to me. The best looking remake is probably Fluttershy in my opinion if I was going from accuracy but so far I haven’t seen any Basic Fun ponies in person so they may look better

I just saw the video. Since the ribbons seem sewn on now that should be the easiest indicator that a G1 is Basic Fun or not. Thank you!

Really? They discolor because of that?
I've been meaning to get some retro scented ponies. Any idea what they put in there that makes them like that?
