HANDMADE MY LITTLE PONY CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT SWAP
index-1.gif

This swap will have us all creating handmade My Little Pony Christmas ornaments for our fellow members here at the Trading Post. They can be sewn, clay, felt, paper pieced… you are only bound by your own imagination!

Check out some previous year's ornament swaps

2024 :xmastree: 2023 :xmastree: 2021

RULES
  • You must make an ornament themed around or depicting a pony from your partners wishlist.
  • Ornament must be wrapped. C'mon it's Christmas, of course it should be wrapped!
  • Delivery tracking (domestic) or receipt of sending (international) is required! See shipping details below. Be sure to package your box for a safe secure delivery!
  • When you receive your ornament you must post a thank you brag in the Show n Tell thread. Failure to do so may result in a neutral feedback.
  • You must include a card or note in your package telling your swap partner who created their festive, fabulous bauble.
  • Keep in mind we have members of all different crafting skill levels. At the end of the day what matters is that someone spent time handmaking this ornament for you and I expect everyone to just do their best. Try to create a special ornament that you would be thrilled to receive yourself. It doesn't have to be outrageous, just something you put time and care into :greenheart: :happyhearts: :greenheart:
  • Any extras are optional, this swap is for a handmade ornament. However, if you wish to include a little candy or some small additional items they should be no more than a few dollars and are entirely at your discretion.

You are allowed up to 3 trading partners, but keep in mind that each item, being a handcrafted masterpiece, will take some time to complete. You want to give your trade partners something to add to their own Christmas tree, and be part of their yearly holiday rituals, so make sure to send something you would be proud to receive yourself!

NEW THIS YEAR: Due to complications with shipping to the US, will strive to assign all non-US swappers to each other!

All the shipping details!
  • For Domestic Shipping; tracking is required. If a package gets lost in the mail, the sender is responsible for either putting together a replacement for the recipient. Failure to do so will result in a negative feedback from the MLPTP (which is an automatic ban from all future swaps). Any replacement is expected within a 3 week period from the first package being declared lost.
  • For International Shipping; tracking and insurance is not required on international packages, however we strongly suggest it. If you choose to ship internationally without tracking, you understand that should your package not be delivered within 6 weeks of ship date we will consider it lost. Once the 6 week period has passed, it will be up to the sender to file a claim with their postal service (if able to do so) AND put together and ship another package for their partner. Any replacement package is expected within a 3 week period. If the sender fails to do this, it will result in a negative feedback from the MLPTP (which is an automatic ban from future swaps).
  • Be sure to package your swap box for a safe secure delivery! This means using a sturdy box, packing tape, and filling all empty space in the box with packing material (packing peanuts / bubble wrap / etc) so that no part of the box collapses in transit. Expect the absolutely worst to happen to your package in transit. Make sure your labels are clear and legible.
  • Willing to ship internationally?
Awesome! We really appreciate members who are willing to ship internationally as it gives more people the chance to participate in swaps. However, because international shipping comes with both increased postage costs, we require that all members who plan to ship internationally learn about their international shipping options before signing up, including the costs involved with (optional but strongly recommended) tracking and insurance.

To estimate postage costs, use these postage sites to estimate how much it would cost to send a 5lb box from your country to another country. If you need an exact address to calculate shipping, choose a landmark in that country using a Google search.

(For example, when estimating the cost to send a package from the US to the UK, the addresses you could use for the sake of an estimate might be from the Statue of Liberty in the US to Big Ben in the UK). You are welcome to PM a moderator for assistance with this step.

    United States Postal Service https://usps.com/
    UPS https://www.ups.com/
    FedEx https://www.fedex.com/
    DHL https://www.dhl.com/
    Royal Mail https://www.royalmail.com/
    Canada Post https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/
  • If shipping international please mark as GIFT on the customs form so your partner is hopefully less likely to have to pay duties/taxes on the package. When recording values please do not overestimate for those who have to pay customs fees. If you are mailing internationally and would like to know your recipient's preferences for shipping, please ask us to ask them for you.
  • We do not recommend shipping internationally from the USA using services other than USPS at this time due to high brokerage and customs fees- we don't want the recipient to have to pay to receive their package if we can help it.

Now, let's talk about deadlines!
If Santa can get it all done in 1 night, over 2 weeks should be aplenty
!

Everyone who signs up and sends a package should be able to also receive a package in a timely manner. If you are not confident you can have your ornaments shipped by the deadline, please reconsider. There will be other fun festivities to participate in. We understand things arise and some things can't be controlled, that's okay but we also want everyone who participates to enjoy the swap and be assured to have their ornament before the holiday.

If for any reason you run into issues you must communicate with the swap host so we can work it out. Failure to ship by the required deadline or communicate issues in a timely manner may result in a negative feedback. We want to make sure the swap is fair and fun for all who participate.

Once you've received your ornament, you must post a thank you brag in the Show n Tell thread. I'm signing up for everything!! It's my first time being eligible for the swaps (I've only been here a bit over three months and counting the days until I would be eligible), and I'm SO EXCITED!!! My family has to suffer my homemade ornaments every year, and now it's my pony friends' turn! Mwahahahah!!

...
...
...just kidding, they'll be nice, I promise!

I so so so want to join this year but am struggling financially right now so I am worrying about shipping costs and buying craft materials... but I am crossing my fingers that I can sign up soon :sadpony:

There may also be a little more festive fun coming ;) that has zero cost potential @CharmsPonies so don't get too down, we try to have some festivities that everyone can participate in :)
More festive fun?!

Are you supposed to try in incorporate all the things from the wishlist (a favorite pony, their ponysona, pets), or are those just suggestions of things you could do? The way I intend to make the ornaments I'm not sure I could easily make more than one thing, I think I'd need to make multiple ornaments (I can't think of an easy way to make a pony AND a cat on the same ornament).

Just suggestions so you know what kind of things they like!
