The trick or treat dilemma

The porch light on = come get some candy in my neck of the woods, but with the neighborhood kids all grown, I ended up with a bowl full of candy to myself, and honestly, who can complain about that?

I just did the whole honor system thing because I figured that since there's no kids round here, if a kid did roll up all this way for candy, they should honestly grab a few handfuls for all that effort so it's not a total waste, but alas. I don't think any of the neighbors even bothered, so heck, if a kid dumped the whole bowl in their bag after trawling through a dead zone like this I wouldn't complain.
I hate to admit it… I never give out candy. I’ve bought it for Halloween parties for E, but I’m not supposed to eat any at all now. I’m also such a little ptsd hermit. Leave me home alone and I’m not answering the door if I don’t know you. I thought about the honor system, but ended up nixing it after two years of nobody even trying my door. I live right in the center of the city, though. It’s a ten minute walk, yes walk, to the hospital, two schools, the most major freeway overpass, and pretty much any shopping you actually need.

That sucks!! If they were only trick or treating like everyone else idk what kind of fine the police would even give like. " Hey some parents dont like college kids trick or treating so youve got to pay a fine for being 20 and having candy in a bucket"? That hardly seems fair or possible. I would be so madd. :hmph:
Yeah I don’t remember where it was but I think they had made some law in that city that year that you couldn’t trick or treat if you were over 15 or something like that. It definitely doesn’t seem fair to me, I guess older kids could probably get out of the fine by wearing a mask since nobody would know it was them haha

My town lets houses decide what they want to do (we don't have any organized things) i'm not sure how the apartment buildings do it, i usually go trick or treating with my caretaker and i dont think as long as your being respectful abd wear a costume age should matter with trick or treating

Agreed!

there are like... maybe 3 or 4 kids in my entire neighborhood so we don't really do trick or treat. i do think some people buy candy and stuff but i never see people walking around over here.
