TRU has such sweeties!

My TRU has a nice big isle devoted to Ponies, with three shelves, as well as the end piece! Suffice to say, when I go Pony hunting I'm there for a while, checking behind the Ponies up in front of the shelf. Last weekend as I was doing so a very nice guy (TRU employee) around my age came over and asked if I needed any help finding anything. I said no, I was just looking, and he offered to go out back and look if I couldn't find what I liked! He also helpfully pointed out the Ponies on the end of the isle, in case I hadn't seen them. Honestly he's the sweetest toy store person I've ever spoken with! Hee hee.

Unfortunately I was so embarrassed to be caught looking for Ponies at my age I could barely stutter my words out, assured him I didn't need any help, and made my escape quickly with Sweet September.

I had a similar experience at TRU, only it wasnt a nice young man my age, but rather a crazy old lady that worked there. It was a few months ago and I was looking for a birthstone pony for someone for a trade. I started going through all of the boxes when this woman came over and was like, "let me help you". I didn't know what to do so I said ok and told her which pony I was looking for. She then proceded to hold up each and every pony and ask me if that was the right one. I guess she didn't realize that they had names on the boxes. I ended up feeling really embarrassed and just grabbed a random Friendship Ball pony and told her that I had found it I guess they really need something to do if they are willing to go through ponies with customers!

lucky you, my TRU is going through demolition and remodeling! they are making babies r us.. why the hell they had to move all the baby stuff to the opposite side of the store i'll neve know. anywyas, during that great sale all their ponies were gone, and now that the sale is over, there's MILLIONS of them AHRG!!!!

Ya, our TRU started out as a TRU with a Kids R Us or a Babies R Us next door...but business must not have been too great so they put them together and a tire place moved next door (LOL). When the TRU chain decided to revamp or something, they screwed up the WHOLE store so you have to walk half a mile just to get to the pony section....and they stopped selling Bryers too Used to be, you could walk in and walk straight down an isle, grab what you wanted and leave. Now you have to walk in on the right side, cross over past the registers on the left, and walk half the length of the store for a very small pony display. Darn corporate chains. Of course they did that so you'd see all this other schtuff on the way and "want to buy it" but always make a B-Line straight for the pony section. "Marketing"....riiiiiight. lol

My sister worked at TRU while staying @ my house for college in Western WA (she lives in Eastern, I in Western), and she was quite helpful. She looked through the back room for me, and got me new ponies, w/ an employee discount! She also scaled walls for me, aka how I got August Breeze. Target, on the other hand, has rude people and don't help you very much. My sister & I called them once, and the guy was like, 'no! we don't have it! go away!' My sister got mad at Target guest service. TRU is very nice and helpful. Sure, they never restock, neither oes Target, but that's ok... (yeah, my TRU & Targets rarely get in new ponies... I JUST got Strawberry Reef, first time I've seen her here)

My TRU never knows whether or not they have the sunny scent ponies. They sometimes say yes only because of the sticker or look at amazon for it. It takes forever to find if they have them. im normally on the phone for about 20 minutes to find out.

the reason they never know is because the Shimmer Ponies and the Scented Ponies are sharing the same SKN number - the TRU I work just got in our first box of Scented Ponies so who knows if we will get any more Shimmers. If you want to see this fixed you need to call 1-800-toysrus and tell them. As to the back rooms - most TRU's back storerooms are very organized we get in trouble if they are not - so you can go up to customizer serivce and ask be sure to write down the SKN number from the shelf tag - shall save time for them to look it up. As to why each store has a different set up - depends upon store size. Also twice a year each section goes thought changes sometimes whole sections get moved so it can get a bit confusing. As to not having anythng to due no we have tons to do but we also are supposed to help customers find what they want so they shop with us not the other guys. Diamond

i always feel weird checking out of tru with like a dozen or 2 dozen ponies, lolz. hey i had to get them "for my daughters." Yeah right, lolz.

TRU is usually pretty helpful, but Target has been helpful in the past as well... as long as you have the DCPI. Without that they'll say "We don't have it."

Ours is pretty small, but I don't understand why you get embarressed. I just tell them I collect them and I'm looking for one in particular. They either have it or they don't. Never been met with any strange looks.
