We have the huge snappers here and they are scary! I keep a shovel in the car so if I see one in the road I can use the shovel to move it to safety, because picking them up can be pretty dangerous!
The last big snapper we moved was about 30 lbs and way far from water, so it was pretty easy to handle. We just shoved it into a large dog carrier by picking it up by the back of the shell and shoving it in super fast. Luckily it was so hot and tired it couldn't put up a fight. We dropped it off at the lake behind us. Our land butts up to 6000 acres of national grasslands and a small rarely used lake. It's really handy to drop sliders and such at.
