...does anyone know how long flea eggs live without a host? :V

Ah, i believe 2 or 3 months if theyre eggs? Adult fleas would probably live a few weeks with absolutely no food but dont forget we as humans would also be a host even if we dont get infested. :0

well i'm in trouble. thanks though :")

A flea egg can lay dormant for 6+ months in the environment. This is why when a pet has fleas it’s extremely important to treat not just your pet but the home as well. Otherwise you will just have an ongoing cycle of flea infestations.

I’ve been a Veternairy technician for over 20 years and this is something I talk about in my sleep basically now. Lol

One of the best products to treat the home is called Siphatrol and 1 can can grate up to 1,000sq feet, so you will need several cans. Not sure where to buy where you live but it’s available through Veternairy clinics here in Canada. Do NOT use any Hertz products at all with your pets or home when treating for fleas. They’re extremely toxic to animals and I’ve seen one too many deaths because of their toxic pet products.

Humans are not a fleas choice of a meal. They will only go after humans if it is a bad infestation and there’s not enough supply for the amount of fleas in the environment. ;)

What she said ^ lol :)

Yea :( I second this real hard. Last year there was such shortages my usual flea meds were out of stock for like 4 months and my girl is super allergic to fleas she was scratching herself to death so i bought Hartz as a desperate last resort, its all the store had, and I didnt have the money for a full vet visit being out of a job so its all I could do. She died two weeks later after having the Hartz brand. :( I'll never get over it. So definitely, do not use it under any circumstances even if its the only option. Better to go without. I tried to help my baby with her allergies and it wasnt worth it.

Also adding, food grade diatomaceous earth has done wonders for me as a natural thing that wont hurt my cats. I sprinkle it in the carpet. It wont work right away tho, it takes time since it sticks to bugs and dehydrates them over a few weeks.

thank you so much! ill definitely make sure to keep an eye out for that brand... is it sold in pet stores? smh if so
i touched this cat that had fleas and didn't notice any eggs or fleas or anything (granted i didn't realize she had fleas then... she's a tuxedo cat and we can only see the fleas on her belly and in her ears. is it normal for them to only be on the belly, btw? i looked hard in the fur on the top of her body and couldn't see any eggs or otherwise) and then touched my dog, do you think i should treat everything my dog touched or sat on? thank you again~

so sorry to hear about your girl! :( but thank you for the recommendation

All i know is, my room (no other room in the house :rolleyespony:) was once infested with fleas and it took us about 3/4 months to start seeing activity go down even though we werent in the room.

we literally had borax all over my floor (laminate floors, not carpet) and then at night we set up a flea catcher, which is a bowl of water with dawn dish soap in it and a lamp over it so that the fleas would jump for the warmth of the light and then die when they landed in the soap water.

it was a crazy time, but we got it fixed and havnt had issues since :)

UGHHG what a nightmare omg, glad to hear you've been flea free since though!

also an update:
we haven't seen any fleas on our other animals, we got some prevention meds for them and stuff so that should help. we gave the new cat a bath and meds and we don't see any fleas on her and she's not itching herself anymore. we still wash our hands after we pet her though. it seems like she didn't have that many in the first place.
