What are your hopes for G5?

I hope the fandom will be more tame. I sort of zipped out my enjoyment of My Little Pony when FiM was popular as a young kid, because I'd come across some very not-child friendly things when I wasn't even trying to. (and the toys weren't big enough for me!)

And like others have said, hoping for big g1 sized ponies that look like ponies!

I second, third and fourth this.

Weird is too tame a word to describe "that."
Yeah...despite all of "that", I do hope that there will still be gorgeous fanart and fan animations and such for G5. FiM's fandom is so creative and I'd hate for that part to die out. I mean, I doubt that stuff will ever become as prevalent as the height of FiM's popularity (it was honestly lightning in a bottle) but it would suck if it was barely there for G5, you know?

That is an unfair statement. Many toy and media-based fandoms have their creative, artsy types, not just the MLP's fandom and its not as if only FiM fans are the only creative segment.

People have been drawing, customising, writing, restoring and crafting long before the 2010s. The only difference between then and now, is that people didn't always have a widespread means to instantly share it.

The difference is the use of social media from a much younger age. When you grew up with all this instant communication and ability to share with your peers, it’s much more natural to feel connected and part of something. There’s also the lessening of the stigma of playing with or being interested in ‘girly’ toys by guys, or vice versa. When I was 16 it was still a novelty that a pretty girl could be good at and interested in video games. Most guys didn’t want to admit it if they liked my ponies and horse toys. That changed drastically by the time I was 21.

I had a feeling I was going to get a response like this after I reread what I wrote about an hour later and realized how it sounded. Sounds like I was saying MLP didn't have people creating before FiM which is just untrue and frankly stupid. And I didn't mean to imply FiM's fandom is the only creative part of the MLP fandom or fandoms in general. When I wrote it I was trying to talk about the sheer amount of fan content for the cartoon there is. There are few children's cartoons from the 2010s that has this much of a diverse and large selection of fan content. That's what I was trying to say. But, the longer I thought about it and your response the sillier what I said sounded.

^_^ I remember my friends and I writing Disney fanfics for Lion King and Pocahontas on our computers and printing them out. Said friend would also draw Disney stuff. (I can't draw worth a poo.)

I've seen plenty of amazing MLP customs, and fanart and fanfics from shows/toys ranging from Captain N, to Mega Man, to Naruto, to Transformers, to videogames and books (Some of which I coulda done without.)

Warrior Cats’ fandom is pretty amazing and one I like to bring up a lot, for as long as YouTube has existed people of all ages have been posting Warriors animations just because everyone had the collective desire to see these cats on the big screen, and that was the closest we could get. And nowadays a lot of people in the fandom don’t really care about that movie that’s supposedly in production because everyone loves the fan content more. It’s really interesting and theres just so much creativity.

What are your hopes for the G5 toyline? What kind of design, what kind of gimmicks, what kind of playsets, etc.?

And while we're at it, any hopes for the G5 movie and TV show?
yes i also agree with more variety. that’s what i love about g1 g2 and g3 is that there were so many different ponies to collect and i mean with g4 collecting, you aren’t only collecting the different ponies but ALSO trying to collect every variant of the mane 6 (if you’re a completist collector like me).

I just wish the Mane 6 variants had a bit more going for them. I understand rereleasing them with very little changes a lot so that you can start getting ponies at any time and never miss out on the main characters (and I know that when I was younger I was annoyed when my only version of Princess Cadance to play with had a bunch of extra marks so I understand the appeal of keeping them the same for the most part), but at the same time if you already have the Mane 6 there's not much reason to get more unless the variant is particularly different (like Ponymania!) or you're a completionist (I respect that!). There should be a healthy balance of main character rereleases (both regular and unique versions) and other ponies. Again, like G3. G3 had a good balance of rereleasing popular ponies and new ponies.

i totally agree. g3 had those ponies like pinkie pie, sootaloo, cheerilee, toola roola, minty etc. which were released a lot i think but i love them all, just like i love the mane 6. also if you’re an army collector i guess it isn’t so bad? haha but yes new ponies would be great for g5. and hopefully a good show as well... hard to top FiM.:satisfied:

MLP: The Clone Pone Wars

I think the new ponies should be forced to wear clothes because children might think it's okay to run about nude after watching that dreadful naked FIM show!

*clutches pearls and swoons from the indignity of it all*
