Rainbow Brite is making a comeback.

Subscription video-on-demand service Feeln is restoring the 80s animated series, with Emily Osment and Molly Ringwald as its voice stars.

Actress and singer-songwriter Osment will voice the titular character, a magical girl who sets out to protect and save Rainbowland from dark powers. “Being cast as the voice of Rainbow Brite for the relaunch of this iconic show is truly an honor,” Osment said. “I look forward to connecting with the audience, old and new, and going on this exciting adventure together.”

Ringwald, best known for her roles in The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink, will voice the main antagonist, The Dark Princess.

The series kicks off Nov. 6 with three weekly episodes, available on Feeln.

I gotta say, it doesn't look half bad! It's really just going to depend on how they handle it. But so far, I'd say it's okay!

The older reboot looks a bit strange to me, but kind of funny because it reminds me of Terry Gilliam's animations in Monty Python. Especially with the ultra-colorful characters against monochrome backgrounds. :p
 
I'll pass on it. Not saying good or bad but I prefer the original and starlight just disappoints me in looks. So if its something any want to see good but me I will stick with the original,

She looks and acts so different from what I imagined. It can't beat the original, but it's definitely better than the old reboot. I'm so happy they brought her back, this one looks like it might be a little bit better too! I just might give this a try. :winkpony:

What is wrong with nowdays cartoons. Why do they su*ks at drawing. No more round but more like angular.. Is it more easier and faster to draw? Well its crappy drawing.. And all the details are gone. I'm disapointed :(

Also with trailer gives me a vibe that their personas have changed too much... I'm gonna stick the original
 
The style and animation does not impress me (why is all cartoons made in Flash these days? Because it's cheap and easy?)
Not sure what to say about Starlite and Rainbow Brites new personalities. They seem very....off?

I love the fact that they are bringing back old cartoons as remakes. I just hope they won't destroy a perfectly good memory of these characters and stories with something silly.
 
I died a little inside at her wanna be valley girl accent :shock: what happened to quality in cartoon animation? what happened to detail and fun? I have nothing good to say.

I am so very tired of cartoons with animaton like this. Can we please, please PLEASE have a new cartoon that doesn't look like badly drawn anime? I didn't even bother to listen to it, I was so disgusted with the look. I have nothing against anime or people that like this style of art, I just don't like it myself. I grew up in the 80's and loved the look of the original Rainbow Brite cartoon and other 80's cartoons like Wildfire, GI Joe, He-Man etc. I'd love to see a new cartoon with a similar style.
