Oh, my. That is a pet peeve for me. I don’t currently have a machine because the basic thing I had was garbage. I don’t have $2500 for the good one. My mom’s old viking lasted 20 years with only basic maintenance. It’s what I learned on. Her new one is top of the line 15 years ago and still going strong. Huskavarna.
You cant see it but I'm drooling right now! I'd love to own a Viking machine! them are some sexy beasts!
Besides my thrifted vintage Kenmore and singer I've only owned brother machine's

My mom was a professional seamstress. She made purses for a local company when I was young. She made our clothes. She had a huge awesome industrial machine that she just sold last year. Almost 35 years old and still it was perfect. She had a pretty antique singer with the pump pedal. She even had a surger back then. She just got a new surger two years ago. My parents always taught that it's better to spend more on something that will last five times longer. Quality over quantity.

Eeeeeeeeeee that's so cool!!! I have dreams about industrial sewing machine's like that!
When I was little I wanted to be a seamstress like erika in Barbie princess and the pauper! My first attempt at sewing was at age 8 when I tried to fix my sister's Erika doll dress.
At twelve my grandma bought me a 97$ sewing machine at walmart for my birthday and i tried to use that piece of junk for year's!
Until 2018 when my dad got me two used machines at a yard sale one was a cheep and rusted singer and the other was an decent enough brother so i used the brother for a year till Christmas 2019 when I got the best gift ever! a brother se425 sewing and embroidery machine!

My mom lead the 4-H sewing. I had already been embroidered, cross stitch, hand quilted, ribbon embroidery, and hand sewn for.. I have no clue how long. She taught me about the machines, how to use and care for them, when I was nine. I’ve done alterations, made clothing, quilts, bags, pillows, the list goes on. I never really worked with knits, since I’ve never had a surger. Both my machines were basic model singers. Each lasted about 6 years. The newer one had a major problem with the bobbin. Constantly in need of adjustment. I really want to get a decent machine for my girl to learn on.

I sincerely hope you find a sewing machine they you can teach Eevee on! <3

Thank you. I’m sure we’ll get there eventually. I was actually thinking that a brother might be an easy one for starting, but I’ve never used one.

Re-reading the Rachel Morgan series and the croak trilogy. Good stuff. Oh, land of stories, and glass study, too.

I mostly read young adult and kids fantasy type books ^^; what can I say, I’m basically a kid at heart lol. Anyway I found this interesting book called The Owl Service in a little library a few days ago so that’s what I just started reading

I do, too. I've read everything by Rick Riordan, Nph, and this land of stories series is fun... oh, and fablehaven/dragonwatch are awesome. I hate waiting for the new books to be digitized so I can borrow them, lol.

Nice, right just cause they were written for kids doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be able to read them too :satisfied:
In 11th grade I actually had an English teacher pick on me in class for reading a book she thought was “too low below my reading level” so I tend not to mention the kind of books I read to people ^^; but everyone here is nice so I’m pretty sure they won’t think like that!
Ooh I have the first fablehaven book but haven’t gotten to it yet, it’s good?

I love the fablehaven series. I'm a big fan of the face and other myths and legends. My daughter liked it, too. It's got a very fast paced storyline with lots of twists and surprises.

I was home schooled, so never got teased, and by the time I was old enough that adults would turn their noses up at me, I just didn't care what they thought anymore. Since my girl is 11, you could say I'm reading books that she reads so we can talk about them, but honestly, I just love reading. Some, not all, but some of the adult fantasy strays too far into romance for my tastes.

My brain can’t concentrate on reading at all lately. I wish it would but I find myself rereading the same page over and over.
I'm sorry. Sounds like you've just got too much percolating around in your head. :xmashug:

I love children and young adult books just as much as I ever did. I always find myself looking in those sections of the book store, the stories are usually just as fun to read. Right now I'm actually reading a Hallmark channel book, I bought some for a friend who loves Hallmark channel movies and she said this particular one was really good and loaned it to me, come to find out they're turning it into one of their new movies for the upcoming season LOL It's kinda predictable, like most the Hallmark stuff but it's a cute story and it's actually turning out to be a good read. I read all genres, I like sci-fi/fantasy, murder mystery, period novels, it's all good to me!

Every genre seems to have some appeal.

We are currently reading the third Harry Potter book at night before bed. I read them a long time ago and now I get to share them with our son. When we finish a book we watch the movie. I have the third Peculiar Children's book halfway read for about 2 years now, just can't seem to pick it back up for some reason.

Cool, sounds like I’ll enjoy it too :D
That’s awesome, both that you didn’t have to deal with it and that you were able to not care what they thought! That’s exactly why I’m not a fan of fantasy written for adults, I enjoy watching cute romance movies but I don’t like reading romance (well it’s ok if it’s a sub plot as long as it’s not the main focus) so I tend to get bored with them.
Oh and my parents definitely did that too, two we all really enjoyed were Gregor the Overlander and Bunnicula

So, I know there's a lot of drama and controversy surrounding JK these days but I love everything Harry Potter. I reread the books at least twice a year and around Christmas my brother and I rewatch all the movies. Yes, I do include all the Fantastic Beasts and companion books in these (I love Tales of Beedle the Bard). I love HP so very much I even have one (so far) tattoo on my wrist. I also collect HP books, I love the different designs and cover artwork, I am a proud Hufflepuff alumni. Harry Potter is my past, present and future. :lolpony:

I love it too and have been counting down the days to when my son was ready for them. He has a lot of sensory related issues so up until recently anything like this would have been too much for him. So far he has made it through the movies just fine (except for the jumping spider that gets Ron in the car, that was almost too much for him) and is really enjoying the books. I also love the Fantastic Beasts and the Tales book as well. I hope this opens a whole new world for him so he can enjoy more things in life. PS. I am a Ravenclaw and my Husband is a Gryffindor.
