I’ve been playing with the idea of doing a little for fun crafty kinda event for everyone to par-take in. I don’t know about everyone else but I know that I could use a fun moral boost and I find creativity to be a great stress relief.

This event would require nothing but your creativity and no monetary value behind it and open to all members. Depending on amount of participation I could offer a prize or two?

My question is, would you guys be interested in doing a crafty event or no? I will leave the poll up for a week to get everyone’s input.

I would, but not this year.

I'd love to, but would depend if I had the items I need here on board lol. Would we be posting or just taking and sharing photos? Just thinking postage to/from auatralia/US is pretty expensive.

No, just photos sent to myself. I am working out the details but would likely involve making something pony related/themed with the use of recycled goods. ;) That will give everyone the opportunity to be involved with no need to go out and purchase things. :)

I love making crafty things!!!

I'm a beginner at croquet and this would seem like a fun thing to try..
Did you mean crochet?
Or the game croquet?

If you like crochet or any other yarn craft I have a thread going about yarn crafting here!

I'd love to do maybe quilt squares (I have some Lisa Frank inspired unicorn fabric I've been dying to use) or jewelry... would we have to do the same type of craft or just receive a partner and work our best to please them?

It would just depend on the type of craft for me. I think something like this, if everyone would have to do the same type of craft (such as customizing a pony, creating something out of polymer clay, sewing, etc), it would have to be some sort of craft that wouldn't require years of practice because I feel like that would just be a little bit unfair. Like I think sewing a stuffed animal or a shirt or a blanket or anything like that, wouldn't work, because sewing definitely requires a good amount of practice, and isn't something you just learn overnight. Crafting something with polymer clay or drawing or customizing pony, while it obviously does take practice to get really good at it, it's still something that everyone can do regardless of their experience.

What If it was a hand crafted play set? like a pony sized diorama, made using our chosen craft, be that, sewing crochet, clay, cardboard, hot gluing, embroidery, origami, craved styrofoam that's painted to look like rocks!,
It's is accessible to a large group of people with varying skills set's and it could be judged based on a specific theme like Fairy Tail, or zen garden, or space adventures!, then there could be a cute photo shoot with all our ponies!

Basically what I'm thinking of doing. ;) You know me too well my friend. <3

If the thing involves drawing office furniture and cars I can do it, if it's trees and stuff I can't because if it's alive I suck at drawing it.

Practice! E was in art class last semester and she’s improving her skills at drawing living things herself. She even requested a ’how to draw’ book for helping get the proportions on a body correct. She’s nowhere near the artist she was this time last year. She’s come so far, just taking what she was good at, and building on it.

I haven't bought any books in awhile but I was always really impressed with the Impact line of drawing books (there's even "little pony" one now lol). They had some pretty solid artists and broke concepts down nicely. I would stay away from basically all of Christopher Hart's books. They are very fun to look at but don't explain things very well

@ActionHank It really is just practice. Tho it does get harder the older you get the same way picking up a 2nd language is. (I can't draw environments/furniture for beans, but I've also never taken the time to learn lol)
