I worked at a Walmart in high school, and their policy about theft was pretty strange at that time (late 90's). If an employee saw a person steal something, they could not personally do anything about it. The employee had to call the under-cover security person, and THAT person had to see the theft take place. I once saw some young girls loading their pockets with barrettes & hair accessories, but by the time I notified security those kids were finished actually removing merchandise from the shelf & stuffing it in their pockets, so they could not be "caught in the act" by the appropriate person. :bonk: The only security cameras that were recorded were focused on the cashiers... apparently they were more concerned with employees stealing from them than customers! :bonk::bonk: I have no idea what their policy is these days.
