Hi again Everypony!

My 9" Star Catcher came in the other day.
Above you can see the Before and After photos.

~ Think I got a good deal on this Pretty girl ~ :040:

After Cleaning:
Her color is now a more noticeable white.
Hair is detangled.
Large Ink Mark on her symbol.. is now gone.

I told you a determined fingernail can work wonders on moderate ink problems!
And nope.. no damage I have encountered in this scratch method ~ heheee ;)

A Big Thanks to everyone who responded to my questions!
Thanks so much for all the awesome advice!

Here's what I did:

* Warm Water
-- seeming as cold water/ice is what causes Star Catcher to turn pink or purple.

* Dawn Dish Liquid
* Held her "Heads Up" - to prevent water from draining into the tail-root.
* Rubbed her into a good lather.
* Attacked the various Ink Marks all over her body.
-- view top photo to see the largest ink mark on her DS symbol.
-- also in the top photo, notice the dirt on the tip of her wing.

* Used my fingernail to remove the ink marks and most dirt.
* Went at it from all directions - persistant, yet... gentle enough.
* Kept the ink mark area well lathered and warm with water while I scratched at the hateful Ink Marks.

* Added conditioner
* Waited approx 15 minutes
* Rinsed out conditioner
* Washed again with Dawn
* Thorough Rinse

* Headed back to my bedroom - to Begin the dreaded Detangling... ugghh
* Worked slow; moderatly gentle with the hair and brush-strokes.
* Should of added more conditioner during the detangling process.

-- After Detangled --
* Wrapped the mane around the neck
* Used Cut Straws as "Curlers" for the Tail - (I didnt curl the mane)
* Twisted the Tail into a modest shapely Wave
* Pinned tail down with small hair clips
* Let everything sit for roughly 12 hours

and.... Walaah!
Star Catcher is a Stunning Beauty!

:wow1:

That's the Styling sized version of Star Catcher. She changes colors with different temperatures of water (to pink and blue) and will sometimes do it just based on the temperature! It's very rare to see one THAT white! Congrats =D

Oh wow! Thanks guys!
I never knew of a site that could help me identify these 9" ponies.
Furthermore.. I had no idea she changes color!
hahahaa! yaaaay!
Feel like a little girl again! :D

I am having the same problem... I found a Star Catcher (the original with wings made of blue fabric) yesterday and I am scared to bathe her because of her wings.

For yours, maybe try washing in cold first, and warm if it doesn't do the trick? That's what I do with my normal ponies, haha.

I've bathed mine with fabric wings with no problems at all. I took a towel and dried the wings first, pressing the fabric flat between my hands. Don't worry if the wings droop when wet, drying will fix them. The wings dry very quickly.

I'm just a little hesitant cause mine is the one that can change colors.. I'm just wondering if Dawn would damage the stuff in her plastic that makes her change colors. (?)

Maybe just give her a surface clean with a wet wipe? I'd not like to use anything on her to make her change colour, I have two who are both pink all the time, i've had no joy in finding a white one, even in the stores at the time she was released!

I did go ahead and wash her.
She is whiter than in the photo shown above.
Very pretty.
Though.. I had some trouble with her hair.

did the washing go ok? for the hair you can just wash that and not the body of the pony. when i get a pony with really tangles up hair i brush the hair while it is wet, use lots of conditioner (not soap) and wrap it tightly around the pony's leg to keep it straight. usually works like a charm.

this thread is awesome

I think if anything that out of the dish soaps, Dawn is really gentle since they use it to get oil off of wild animals too. I use it a lot to wash my ponies and it hasn't done anything to them.

If the hair is really tough, try leaving the conditioner in after the first wash until it's dry, then comb through and when it's untangled, wash again, this time combing when wet and rinsing the conditioner out, and like cannibalcow said, wrap it around her leg, or a lipstick, or deoderant can, whatever's handy and works for the look you want!

CC:
The washing went good.
I had to wash her body cause it was covered in marks and such.
She is surprisely White... considering most people find her in Pink.

I washed her in luke warm water.
Since it is cold/ice that brings out her colors.
;)
