A pony you thought you would never have?

When I started collecting, I never thought I would replace any of the ponies I used to have as a kid. I have very strict budget for ponies, so some of them are out of reach especially in good condition. Merry Treats was the pony at the top of my list. She's the pony I remember most fondly from my childhood. I ended up finding an auction for her over the summer and won her in nearly minty condition for $7. I was so happy.

After I began learning values of ponies, I never thought I'd own a Tux n' Tails. When one of my roommates and I moved into a new apartment, she mentioned she had an old pony that she wanted to give me since I could appreciate him more then her. She went home over the weekend and came back and handed me this beautiful, well loved blue pony. I looked him up, and it was Tux! I couldn't believe it. I cherish him so much :3

Not really a pony I thought I wanted, but I never thought I would ever have a Big Brother pony. One day I found Wig Wam in a used toy shop and took him home... he's really grown on me since I love blue and orange ponies.

When I first started collecting, I swore I wouldn't spend more than like $10 per pony. Well, that didn't happen. And now I think I'm getting a little obsessed.....need more ponies...*twitch, twitch*

I just found a Night Glider. She is kind of baity, but I so don't care! Once she arrives, its to the pony spa for her:)

I l-o-v-e celestial and beach themed ponies. They're the whole reason why I started collecting ponies. That being said I have never spent more than $3 for a pony (excluding G4). I've always loved Anchors Away. She's beachy plus I love that yellow/blue green color combination! However I never in a million years would spend a couple hundred to get her. My fiance found one online with the tiiiinest symbol rub for $30 and bought her for me. I about died when he handed me the package. Now she proudly sits on my coffee table :D

I'm pretty cheap when it comes to Ponies too, Moondream. I just have way too much dog food to be buying to spend all my monies on Ponies.

But the temptation! Oh! The pain...

@evilbunnyfoofoo It's so hard to resist spending money on ponies! The ponies just beg to be bought

I love collecting but I'm on a super tight budget. Like, I'm lucky to have $10 in our bank account, budget. So instead of buying ponies online I stalk flea markets, thrift shops, I dumpster dive, I urban explore, I check on craiglists. It's not glamorous but it works. I've been collecting for around 3 years now. I have around 2,000 ponies and all in all I haven't spent more than $800 all together.

My knees are hurty. I hope you don't get that too. You are too young for my bum knee pain. :D

So awesome. I should come hang out with you. That's one thing I miss about city living... dumpster diving! Out here there's none of that. Sorrows. And the thrift shops and our small flea market are just the poop. If I find a Pony every 6 months, that's quite lucky. You'd think someone would be donating them, but I never see anything. And the flea market is all either just junk junk (like broken dishes and car part junk) or dollar store stuff they bought and marked up to 2 bucks. I got Ponies on craigslist once, but generally even the Dallas section has little to offer and what's there is way overpriced. I keep looking though.

Things gotta look up for my luck eventually!

Hey, I feel like the only pony collector in my city! Blame Flea Markets selling Ponies whom belonged to kids that outgrew those gals

I think we would have a ball! It's nice to meet another diver. Everyone rags on it but you can find so many treasures. Plus it's recycling and helping the Earth is always good. I understand your pain. When I lived in NY I was right near Buffalo and all of it's sub cities so there was an abundance of thrift shops. Now I live around 40 minutes from Orlando in a bit of a rural area so thrift shops and flea markets are far and few between. I have the same Craiglist problem! We have a lot of wealthy neighborhoods around an hour away. I always find ponies but I'm sure as hay not paying $200 for a few G3's :lolpony:

I'm in Montana-flea markets don't even exist. I get to have EBay and Etsy and of course the amazing *My Little Pony Trading Post *. I thought I wasn't going to spend more than $10 for a pony. I didn't think I would actually need to either. However, replacing my collection has become important to me, especially certain ones. Also, I have three nieces ranging in age from 6 months to 11 years who like to play with my ponies and brush and comb their hair. I want to get ponies I can let them enjoy that if I can't purchase them clean, I can at least have a chance of cleaning them up, disinfecting them, exorcising them... <I saw the pics of the Halloween Pony contestants>

Baby Sea Star. I never thought I'd get any sea pony let alone one of the ones I loved most but thanks to Hobomom & Mimic I managed to get her and what a beaut she is too :D
