Hey guys :)

Have you donated any toys to a national toy drive, a local church or a family in need?

I'm running a raffle based on toy donations over at the arena. I meant to cross-post it here, but it slipped my mind. But I don't want to exclude you TPers!

If anyone here has donated a new toy, book or piece of clothing to a toy drive, church, or family, please tell me your story here, along with an estimate of what you spent.

For every $5 donation I will issue a single raffle ticket to you. On December 26th (no ending time yet, as I don't know when I'm working!) I will use random.org to choose winners. The more submissions we get, the more winning numbers I will choose!

If you'd like to read the full rules or view the other thread, click here: My Little Pony Arena » Forums » Pony Talk » Pony Corral » ABC's first annual Holiday Toy Drive RAFFLE (9 days left!) (mods, I don't remember if I'm allowed to link to the arena or not - if not feel free to remove).

If this link is removed, the thread is stickied on the MLPArena in the corral, and is titled ABC's holiday toy drive raffle :)

The prizes include, but are not limited to:

A BASIC custom of any generation by DevlishSmooch! No sculpting or styling size, but she says she can add angelina film wings if requested :) Here are some examples of her beautiful work: MLP Customs pictures by DevlishSmooch - Photobucket

What a great idea!!! And how generous of everyone who donated prizes. :) And my thanks to you for organizing it. How fabulous! We donate on an ongoing basis... I've always believed that we should all find ways to give back. When we aren't in a place to give financially we give of our time (and we do that even when we can give in other ways). I figure the best way for my daughter to learn compassion, and generosity is to demonstrate it.

Okay, tried to send a PM but you're over quota in your message box. If you could kindly clear some space, I'd be happy to PM you details of our giving this year, but don't really want to post that kind of thing publicly.

hi green :) After months of struggling I've decided to purposely leave my PM box full - it only holds 5 at a time including sent and received, which is quite annoying and difficult to deal with. I constantly miss messages because it gets full, so I'm trying just to make that well-known instead :)

If you'd like to contact me privately, feel free to click on my name on either post and use the "send email" option. That will go directly to the email I check multiple times daily. However, I do have to warn you this is a public raffle based on donation amounts. I understand you might be uncomfortable sharing that information, but based on the fact that I'm issuing tickets based on the amount donated, people are going to be able to see an estimate of your total anyway.

So if you privately message me to say you donated $100 worth, I will keep that private but it will show on the arena thread that I have issued you 20 raffle tickets, and anyone with basic math skills can figure that out :/ I need to keep the ticket numbers public to ensure faith in everyone that I am not setting up some kind of scam (especially since I keep urging friends to participate, and some have).

If that would work out for you feel free to email me as I said at the beginning here. And thank you for your interest :)

I participated in an event called Samaritan's Purse. I went to Target and bought toys and essentials for the child that had been selected for me, a 9 year old girl in Haiti who was living with her mother and baby brother. Her father and uncle had been killed during the earthquake. We got her a toothbrush, toothpaste, Hello Kitty chapstick, a small plastic mirror, a Littlest Pet Shop, heart-shaped bracelets, (naturally) Twilight Sparkle single, some socks, a hairbrush, a set of glittery gel pens, a notebook, and a small stuffed cat.

Then, I packed everything into a shoebox, dropped it off at my church, and waited. I got a letter last week saying that she had received her package and was thrilled with everything. A picture was included of her holding Twilight Sparkle and grinning. I feel great to have helped a needy girl, who now is attending school every day and, apparently, a MLP fanatic. I spent about $25.

My husband and I participate in the local Salvation Army's toy drive every year, and of course this year was no exception. We bought two hand-held video game-type toys to donate (we added batteries as an extra bonus). My husband paid, so I will have to ask him how much they cost. I keep meaning to take photos from my camera phone of the posters or toys in the boxes at work before they take them away, and I keep forgetting. I will try to do that today while I'm at work (if I remember).

Edit: I just text my husband (he's at work right now) and asked the cost of the toys. He said $12.50 each, so that's $25 total for the toys, then.

Edit: I don't know why, but they had taken the boxes away already, even though we had until today to get toys in. Anyway, they still had posters up, so I took a photo of one of the posters last night:

I just drew the numbers so no prizes have been chosen yet, but I'll let you two know when your turns are up :) If you have an arena account feel free to post in the thread over there, or if not just let me know. I'll clear my inbox and PM you two right now.

thank you again - overall we raised over $600 worth of toys! :D

I choose... Tootie Tails! (Sorry for the wait. My computer was being rebellious.))

Storydreamer from Arena here :)

I choose movie Firefly! So pretty.

Thought I'd update this thread, ABC has been super busy but hasn't forgotten this! There's a thread on the Arena in Trader Support if any of the TP members who won want updates, I'll try to make sure this is updated too though.

From the Arena:

okay guys, here's what's up.

At the very beginning of January (basically right before the last time you heard from me) I started thinking about looking for a better job. I updated my monster resume and within HOURS I got an email about a job fair. I shrugged and went. What I got was a fantastic opportunity for what I thought would be a part time, temporary position. Never in my wildest dreams, however, did I expect for that to turn out to be full time (and probably permanent). I now have two jobs. I've also tried to keep up with my wedding plans (less than two months to go), I'm busy with an online class and trying to find a house and my MIL was in the hospital for about a week. My online time has gone from hours a day doing nothing to checking my fb and email every three or four days. That's pretty much it. This is my first time visiting this new site and I wouldn't have even realized it moved without a nudge on fb from crimsondeity. I'm sure a few of you have noticed that you haven't seen me around the arena or another site I used to be on all the time. This is why.

ABC = busy. O.O

I'm not really trying to make excuses, just explain things.

I'm sincerely sorry for putting all of you on the back burner - it's just that everything came so suddenly, I wasn't prepared and I didn't expect it.

To cookhuman, kalavista and anyone else who's stepped up and helped with your parts - thank you SO much, you guys have already done way more than I expected. (if there's anyone else who has, thank you too.. I just haven't read enough of this yet to see who you are).

to everyone else - again, I'm so sorry you all got stuck in the back. Not forgotten, just dead last on my "things that need to happen immediately" list. Today's list still has four or five things on it that I didn't get around to, and yet I still feel accomplished. Yeah, not so great. :/

As of right now, it's after 11pm here and I'm getting up at 5 to shower and get ready for work. I only work the one job tomorrow so in the evening after I get home I should be able to come back on here and go through these pages more slowly. I have a lot of back reading to do and a lot of organizing and writing things down. I will get to you though
smile_001.gif

I have also asked two friends if they would be willing to step in and help me get things organized and back on track. I haven't heard back yet from either.

I will be back tomorrow and I will do my best to get things on track. In the meantime if anyone would like to contact me with questions, helpful hints or angry rants you can go through my facebook, since messages (usually) get forwarded to my phone. the link is facebook.com/abrowncrayon .

see you guys soon.

I'm one of the friends she mentioned and am going to try and help her get things all organized. I'll update the thread whenever I have any news, if ABC herself isn't able to. Hopefully this will all be set and everyone will have their prizes soon! :)

I don't mean to double post, just wanted to update this thread, I have the two TP members' addresses and am going to forward my list of info to ABC by Thursday. Hopefully she'll be able to start shipping items on Friday. :)

** update **

ABC has all info for all participants and is in the process of shipping items. :) I'll pm members here once I have more info.
