That's right they're starting to show up in New England! Sorta... Went to NH-Claremont and Keene Walmarts had the PinkliePIe "Perfectly Pink" set for $10.88, and the new Styling Pinkie as well as a fesh stock of NBC sets and singles-Keene Target had nothing new but NBC Plushes and RD's Special day on sale. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut I sprang and I bought the PP DVD set so I can do a MINTY!

So for your viewing pleasure, I give to you the anatomy of a G3-9

Stage 1: In the Box

HPIM3050.jpg

Stage 2: Out of the Box-so easy to get open! Just slit the tape on the side and pull the card board out. No insert about other products though.

HPIM3051.jpg

Stage 3: Out of the Plastic-more easy to remove from than the G3s but still a bit annoying.

Lets Examine Pinkie Now:

HPIM3055.jpg

HPIM3056.jpg

-Notice the lack of a magnet (yay) and the hexago shaped peg hole; sp does that mean she is incompatable with the older playset/scooters?

Off With Her Head!
HPIM3057.jpg

-Very similarly attatched liked a NBC but alot easier to pull off; about the same pain to put back on though

HPIM3058.jpg

-Notice how she has three lines of plugs instead of 2 (my RD has 2 though; I think it's a hair style thing)

HPIM3059.jpg

-And notice how another row is added under the ear

HPIM3060.jpg

HPIM3061.jpg

-And then smone how we end up with 5 rows at the bottom of the head

Lets Look At The Body:

-Tiny hole, no way pliers will fot down there and curve up to get the tail. So since I'm using her to make Minty, and Minty has this color pink in her tail, I
'm not going to attempt to remove it-I'll just paint around it-so the next one I get I'll figure a way to remove it to show you what it looks like ^^

Time For a Hair Cut!
HPIM3067.jpg

HPIM3068.jpg

HPIM3069.jpg

HPIM3070.jpg

-Notice how "the bangs" are rooted in vertical rows, while the rest of the hair is rooted in horizontal rows; it actually reminds me of how i root in NBC mane...what a coinsidence, non?

HPIM3082.jpg

-Look hopw much hair a G3-9 hhas compared to a Repro-G1, and a Core 7 posed G3; 3-9 has more than 3, but it's shorter in my oppinon

Oh Noes She's Bald!

So that's our anatomy lesson for today kiddies ^^ Next step is to paint her green! Muwahahahahaha!

Hope you found this educational! I know I had fun :D

that was almost too cute!

I enjoyed looking through these- thanks for posting them!

We've talked in chat about how to open one of these babies up... the neck lip is actually a plug that can be loosened with an exacto blade and pulled out so you can get out the tail. :)

Gooood luck on Minty!

Hopefully they'll make their way into NY soon... How hard is it to get the hair out of their heads? It just looks really small, G3's are a pain in general because I can't fit my pudgy fingers inside 'em:)

I was going to post this but couldn't find my camera XD

FYI to anyone interested in rehairing- you can get the tail out, but the washer cannot fit through the neck plug (at least in PP's case)
You have to remove the hard plastic plug and then it will fall right out.

I did this when in a bad mood so she now has a few slits on her neck ^^;; I'm still working on how to stabalize the neck plug when replacing it =/ I think we'll have to follow in Hasbro's footsteps and use glue like there's no tomorrow.

I tell you though, if you don't want a rattling pony- Chibi G3s may be the end of customizing =/ They are a pain in the fluffy bum to prep!

For removing tails :

I was digging around, and finally found the ultimate tool for removing tails.

Ya know the nut shellers - the cheap, basic ones that you crack the nut with? In our set, there were 2 little grabby things, that you are supposed to remove the nut with. They work perfectly!! They are long and thin enough, and slightly curved, so that they get right under the tail to pull them out :

I keep one in my tool box, so I always know where it is.

:)

Wow, thanks for the detailed info ^^
I'm considering getting one of them, but didn't made my mind yet. Those posts helps a lot ^^

XD argh when she had her hair cut she looks like that creepy spider doll thing from toy story

hey you're right!

it really wasn't that hard-easier than a G3 but harder than a G1

i didn't think they were a pain-it was actually really easy for me. course i left the tail in so that probably helped i guess. i'll have to try to remove the plug with the next one.

I saw the same Pinkie Pie with the DVD and the larger Styling one here at a WalMart in Virginia this week, so they are creeping their way in! However I've only seen Pinkie Pie...are any of the others out yet?

Eeeeeeyuck, it looks like they're trying to turn My Little Pony into a companion for a Bratz doll. The head is kinda cute by itself, but it's just too big for the body it's on.
