So there is this clause in the postage thing that says "No Toys Unless Made Fully of Wood."

Anyone ever had anything come of this? I cannot imagine this? How o you present your ponies on a customs form. Are they really going to come after me?

I"m personally in the USA, but I'd be interested to hear from Europe collectors on this as well

well im in the uk and i ship everywhere on items never had a problem. I havent even head about this toys only wood thing. customs form all i put is plastic my little pony toy. cant get any clearer than that. I know others have had problems with items going astry but ive not had that myself (Touches head)

I wouldn't imagine they'd come after you as such but it might just get opened at customs? I don't sell online but it seems like a lot of sellers have trouble with sending to Italy if the many eBay listings I've read are anything to go by.

It sure seems like there are an awful lot of things you can't send to Italy though! Hope some other people here can be more helpful.

Re:

I'm in Sweden and I've never heard of the "only toys of wood" thing to be honest o_O

I've shipped to the US, South America and Europe. Just a week or so ago even to Italy. Our postoffice never asks for a custom declaration (except one single time a lady there asked me to write one for a package going to the US but that was it). She said "The Americans are kinda obsessed about their custom declarations so you should write one for that package" lol.

That is the one and only time I've ever had to write one though on any pony mail going to the US or to any other place. And everything has always arrived quickly and as far as I know untouched by the customs. Even the one to Italy. That one only took a week tops to arrive and everything went perfectly fine.
So from my personal experience sending ponies has been no issue as of yet. Not even to Italy which many seems to have issues with :S

They won't come after you, but as I understand it, there is a small chance of it getting stopped by customs and never being delivered. I had shipped "toys" there a few times before I learned of this rule and they arrived fine; so, it doesn't seem to be enforced very often. I have heard people say they like to play it safe and call ponies "collectible figures" rather than toys.

I have shipped several times to italy and EVERY SINGLE TIME, the recipiant never recieved the package. Most were returned to me over a year later, looking like it went through a freakin war zone, contents basically destroyed. I flat out refuse to biy anything from or ship to ITALY every again

I have twice, both times the contents marked as "collectible horse figure". Mail was slow, one case the PayPal 45 limit would have well elapsed had it been a purchase. They arrived fine but were well packaged in sturdy boxes. However, I was lucky in that Italian customs hadn't opened/inspected either package. If they had I'd assume being plastic toys the contents would be either discarded or destroyed. It is a risk sending items that are not legal to import so I'm only willing to send ponies to Italy when the buyer has good feedback and agrees to accept the risk of loss. I refused to ship to Italy when I sold on eBay however.

I haven't done any business with anyone in Italy....but I don't really plan to, either. =( At least, I don't intend to sell to or trade with anyone in Italy. I guess buying from there wouldn't be quite as problematic, maybe. But I've read plenty of stories of people in Italy never getting their items...I just don't want to take the risk! It hurts to know ponies could get thrown away (or even stolen?) by customs over there. :/ Sorry, Italians! >.<

I've sent multiple packages to Italy & I mark the customs form "collectible horse", as mentioned above. Italian customs is known for causing trouble. Lots of packages get held up in customs for weeks or months & some packages completely disappear. Most Italian collectors are aware of this problem & should be understanding. You will notice that a lot of sellers on ebay specifically say that they won't ship to Italy.

I've only ever had one person from Italy buy from me, and the only issue was that they had to pay a customs fee for the amount of value the item was valued at. But it got there fine and the item was listed as my little pony.
