I'm not sure where to put this... sorry if it's in the wrong spot! I'm just wondering if anyone is on Deviant Art? I just joined a few days ago so I don't have much up there yet, but I'd love to have some new friends on there.

Oh, I'm sure that's not true! Anyway, one good thing about art is that if you practice you can always keep improving your skills... people say you have to be talented to be an artist, and maybe that's part of it, but a lot of it is just putting the work in and advancing your skills bit by bit. And being willing to make mistakes while you learn along the way.

I was very bull - headed and stubborn when I was starting out and liked all of my own beginner work when I started nearly a decade ago, I just didn't care if it was imperfect. I enjoyed making it and I think people should focus on that instead of worry about other people~

From experience that's probably the best thing I can offer. If you love it, just do it. It will pay off.
 
That's very true, Lightning. You just have to do it for the love of doing it. I have always hated my art, but it always sells, so I guess people do like it. The act of making art is what brings me joy. I love putting a pen to paper and telling a story. I enjoy watching layers of paint becoming scenery. It's much more the creating for me, rather than the creation. As long as you love doing it, that's what matters.

I'm pretty mercenary. I like the money. LOL

Thanks for posting all of your Deviant Art names! I will have to go check them out, maybe later tonight. Too... hot... to... do... anything... *sprawls out in front of AC*

In six months I'll be complaining it's too cold, of course... but we'll forget about that for now. ;)
 
I have a gallery that sells for me and a small group of private collectors who commission pieces from me for their group publications. They pay rather well, so I don't have to take many other jobs. Right now I wouldn't have time anyway. I'm wrecking my home in the thought I'm fixing it. Heh. It looks like we had a wrestling rumble in here!

Boy, you ain't kidding about the heat. It's not even near as hot as it could be here in TX, but I'm already croaking. Next month it'll be it the mid 100s and then our true suffering will begin. And I will COMPLAIN.
 
Heh... I live in Massachusetts so it doesn't get NEARLY as hot here... but the humidity is killing me these last couple of days! I hope it will storm tomorrow, so the heat breaks a bit.
 
We'd been in an eight year severe drought so this year... we get record rains and floods! The humidity is ungodly, and we're really not used to it. even my ponies and horses stay in the woods unless they see someone with a feed bucket! :D

Oh my gosh your pic of Dancing Butterflies is darling <3 And the faerie Ixi is so sweet! TNT would be crazy not to put it in the art gallery!
