Now that I am working my way back into the TP community I wanted to bring up a topic that is dear to my heart! International and Variant MLP's (G1's mainly). Some of you may know them as "Nirvana" Ponies which was a phrase coined by another site. Back when I was a very active member here at the TP I started a social group for everyone and anyone who was interested in learning about and discussing International versions of MLP's. As a lot of collecting veterans know, there are A LOT out there, to me its always been fascinating to see all of the different styles and versions that different countries around the world produced. Thanks to our great members we have a vast photo album full of all sorts of International/Variant and even proto-type ponies for anyone looking to educate themselves on whats out there or even just to enjoy others collections. I wanted the group to be a place members could come with questions and comments b/c I know when I first got into collecting variants, I had a lot of questions. At one point I even started a "Pony of the Month" event where group members would sign up with what pony they wanted to discuss and every month a different member would post a complete bio. about that pony. For example, all known versions, rumored versions, fun facts about that pony, ect. I found these monthly posts to be super educational and really fun for the members that were passionate about their favorite pony. So, in case any members out there were wondering if there was a designated area to go for anything International/Variant MLP related, the answer is yes :) If you are interested in joining the group or even just checking it out, all you've got to do is click on my Siggy and it will take you directly to the group. If you have any complications or questions about it, please feel free to PM me. I look forward to seeing some new members and hopefully we can get the group more active again :yay:

Yes, I do not have one yet but I am planning on trying to get some of these. I was looking at an Italian version of Tickles the other day. Sometimes I find that the variant is prettier than the USA version. I wish someone would do a book on just this topic only...loaded with photos.

Yes! I think they're awesome! But extremely expensive...I wish to get one though.

Also looking forward for your group!

oh so cool = thank you thank you thank you for doing this = definitely will look to click over to join :)

I think that's such a great idea. There's so much I do not know about nirvanas and variants!

I recently counted my variants and came up with 122. I LOVE the variant group!

Wow, I'm glad to see this got such a positive response :) That group was my passion when I was active on the site and I'd love nothing more than to jump back into it! :yay:

Tulagirl- I agree with you that sometimes variants are prettier than standard US releases. Thats one reason I was attracted to them was b/c they come in so many different colors and versions. For example a lot of Greek ponies would be released in more than one color. You should take a look through the groups photo album. A lot of members have posted their International pony collection pics there, so there is so much to look at :) I'd love to write a book on the subject, maybe someday!

PinkieMint-Looking forward to seeing you there! You'll have one in your collection someday :) Some of them are not too expensive, for example Italian ponies are often times very reasonably priced, I started my variant collection with a few Italian ponies.

Maycrestmom-Can't wait to see you at the group! Feel free to post any questions or suggestions for topics. I'm always happy to answer questions about variant ponies. I'm really hoping to start up the Pony of the Month thing again, that was fun b/c it was super educational.

Skeen- I am completely envious of your Variant collection ;)

TikiBirds-My Argie Medley is my favorite version of her. (I have the lavender haired version) Argie ponies are gorgeous!

I'm really looking forward to seeing new and old faces alike at the group! Like I said all you've got to do to join is click on my siggy which will take you straight to the group. Please feel free to post any questions or comments you might have on the subject. That is a great way to get the ball rolling again in the group. If you go through the old threads you'll find the Pony of the Month bio's which were a lot of fun and a great way to learn about a certain pony and all of its versions. If you have any suggestions everyone is always welcome to drop me a PM about it!

Quick update. I've started a new thread in the International Group to kick things off :) If anyone has trouble finding or joining the group let me know. I'm so passionate about International/Variant ponies and happy to give members a place to go specially dedicated to this topic and I'm looking forward to seeing you all there! :yay:

Yay! Variant group is back! :)

Yay! Variant group is back! :)

I'm going to be counting on my old friends like yourself to help me get this thing rolling again! I think I'll start posting some topic threads and see how people respond to those. I'd like to start doing the Pony Bio's again if I get enough members interested. I'm just happy to get the word out that there is a place here at the TP for this topic b/c a lot of the newer members may not know that.

Hey guys, DialgaBritesMom has made the first official post on the new thread started in the International/Variant Group!! :yay: She brought up some very interesting topics that I made some replies too. You'll notice that I had to make several different posts in response b/c in the social group for some reason it only allows 1,000 characters per post. I think there may be a way around this b/c in the past when we would do Pony Bio's they would be quite lengthy. I'll get in touch with the MOD's to see if there is a way around this so a response can be put in one post :) I hope to see more members post over in the new thread, I'd love to hear more questions, comments and stories! And feel free to add to the comments I made. I've been out of the loop for some time now so I bet a lot of members have new stories to share about their International/Variant collections! Again, if anyone has any questions about the group and joining feel free to PM me or just click on my siggy and it will take you right to the group.

Hehe...yeah, I'm really into variants, but only Argie Wingers.

I love variant ponies - but not their prices, heh. :D

One of my most favorite ponies in my collection is a "Nirvana" pony from Argentina. Completely unfinished, no painted eyes, no symbol, all white. The mane and tail are blue, and both of them are sewn in... The lines for the mane are crazy as well, not straight at all.

I think the way the factory made the ones with the sewn in tails from other countries are awesome, and I hope one day to expand the number of Nirvana ponies I have.

One other quick shoutout to my Nirvana NSS Brazillian Paradise. This pony was always a myth to me, so once I got my hands on a NOT DEFLOCKED NSS Paradise, I was crazy over her. Like many nirvana ponies, she's not in the best condition (why this is, I'll never know, maybe trial and error on the production line produces these?) - but I love her to death. At some point I'll try to post pictures :D

the only variants i am after are the UK baby sparkle ponies for some reason i like them better than what the US got.

I love Argie ponies. My Argie Medley is one of my all time favorite ponies, they released two versions of her in that country and I have the Lavender haired version. It sounds like what you have is a proto-type pony :) So its International and a variant!! I'm super jealous of your Brazilian Paradise, she was always on my wish list. I have a thing for Pegasi. And I'm also not a fan of SS ponies so its always great to score a NSS version instead of a de-flock.

-The UK got some awesome releases that the US didn't. I've always wanted a set of Mountain Boys, they just don't come up too often. Honeycomb is probably one of my favorite UK ponies. Have you ever seen the UK Princess Sparkle? She is gorgeous!

I like'em,but have none(

Thinking about starting up a collection someday? Not all of them are as expensive as people think. I used to come across some very nice Italian ponies for very reasonable prices ($12 to $15 range for the more common characters). And several UK variants are easy to find as well :)
