I just saw an ad on TV that ponies are the Happy Meal toys!!! :worthy:

Guess where my kids are having lunch tomorrow!! :auto:

I tried to look on their website but it wasn't loading, I would like to think that it is because it is over run with excited ponyaholics wanting to have a gawk!

= = = :auto:

Just got in to happy meal toys page - it is G3.5-Ponyville-like Rainbow Dash, StarSong, Pinkie Pie and Scootaloo - all with hard plastic tails and soft brushable manes. They all come with a comb.

I will take piccies when I get home tomorrow!

BTW - for the boys it is Bakugan (happy for my son but upset that now he won't take one for the team and get ponies!)

Good thing they have healthy choice Happy Meals now, looks like I will having them for lunch for the next month just to get the toys!!!

I know here they will sell you the toys without having to buy the meal, last time I saw this it was £1 to do, maybe they do that in Australia?

well those are the same as the US ones, minus Cheerilee and Sweetiebelle. Yay I won't have to track down some AUS ones now XD;;; I got enough of a time finding the last EU G3 one I need to finish my set, and those Mexican ones...

and yes, i went to see the AUS Happy Meal site even though i'm in the USA

:reaper: Kat :reaper:

Thanks for the great piccies Kar, I am a bit useless when it comes to that kind of thing!

Well it didn't all go to plan. I took the kids to the local shopping centre (they have a fab playground and on Saturdays they have a big bouncy castle too) and rocked up to the counter at 10.30 and the dnotty nosed kid behind said I had to wait 3 minutes as they were still serving breakfast. I sat glaring at them for their 3 precious minutes, then marched back up only for them to tell me they weren't serving those toys yet (tried to get to pick from 3 nonsense generic toys). Perhaps it was the tone of my response, but the manager floated over and said if I came back in another 10 minutes they would be available - she would go and get them from out the back. So 10 minutes later I went back again - they had StarSong pony - but no Bakugan. So my son took one for the team and got a pony.

Feeling sorry for him we decided to get Dad a Happy Meal on the way home from the restaurant one closer to home so he could get a Bakugan toy. They informed us that the still only had one type of Shrek toy left and they weren't sure when the new ones would be available.

So both stores were still trying to flog off their old toys after the tv ads & website clearly stated the toys available now were My Little Pony & Bakugan. And yes they say you can swap your unopened toys later when they do have them in, but from experience they usually don't let you do that for the really popular new ones - again they try to fob you off with their unwanted leftovers.

So I am a bit cranky (obviously) about it at the moment, but I do have 3 StarSongs - one spare, one for me, and one my daughter has already combed into an afro. But it is just rude. I let it rip on their feedback form on their website, but I am sure they aren't really concerned about lil' ol' me....

Oh and for those MIB collectors - the ponies may be the same as the US ones but the baggie has 'Australia' all over it. If any one would like some please just let me know - I can see quite a few chicken snack wrap/apple slices/apple juice Happy Meals for my lunch in the next month!

And no, unfortunately none of the stores near here allow you to buy the toys without a meal... but I'll try the city when I am at work tomorrow - or at least try to swap my Rumplestiltzskin...

They don't let us buy them without the meal or in advance of the weeks release in Sydney either.I got a starsong too-Very cute!!

I went today to swap the Shrek toys in the city - the 2 large stores still didn't have any, and the little one that only has 2 checkouts had a bin full of Scootaloo's and 2 different Bakugans.

So obviously they are super organised - not. It is meant to be one pony a week, but so far they either have none or a random pony. Who knows, maybe tomorrow they will have a completely different pony that isn't even on their website.

Ah well, on the brightside I have half of them already!

How cool! I wish european McDonalds had ponies on Happy Meal prizes, too! :cheshire:

Update on my quest/saga - had messages from the 2 store managers when I got home this afternoon (I had filled in a complaint online) - both ere very nice and very apologetic. One I have to call back, the other sent me an email and offered me 2 free meals as an apology.

So for now my cranky pants are folded and put back in the cupboard....

I wouldn't get too bent up I mean look how easy it is to find those happy meal toys. And in US you can buy just the toy you know. And Mcd's has to try and get rid of the old toy first before giving out the new toy. When I worked there back in the days of high school we always threw the old toy one top of the new one to use them up first otherwise we'd get stuck with a box full of old promo toys in the back so I see situation they are in. And remember participation varies by region and store you know.

Yeah I know why they do it, and if it was just me I wouldn't mind so much, but it was my kids that were upset as they say the ad on tv the day before and begged me to take them down there the next day. So I made a trip out of it and they were all psyched up only to be let down over and over again.

And sure they could put the old toys out, but still have the new ones for anyone who asked - most people don't care so will take whatever.

And they don't let us buy them separate here in Australia, you must buy the meal to get one. And they always always run out of the popular lines over here. Back when they had the soccer Peanuts (one for each country in the world cup), the popular countries were sold out everwhere before lunch time on the day they were released. Hence my determination to get one each for me and my daughter....

And I would like to add that I did not (and never would) take it out on the poor kid at the counter! I take it home and vent on their feedback form on their website - to the level of managment that are responsible, not the poor employees!

They look like the ones that were released in the US back in late 2009.

Two of the McD's that I have gone to sold the toys without having to buy the Happy Meal. I think it would depend on the francise on whether they can sell them without the Happy Meal or not.8)

Edit: This would be in the US.
