G1 BBE Rust Removal?

Hi all!

I recently purchased a BBE Baby Sundance who was quite cheap due to some very apparent eye rusting and rust staining on the plastic around the eyes. I love restoring ponies who need a bit of TLC, but I've never had a BBE pony before. Does anyone have any tips or product recommendations? I've seen RIT Rust Remover suggested, but that's marketed as a fabric treatment, so I'm not sure if it's my best bet. I'm fairly new to restorations so any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Have you checked mlppreservationproject.com? I believe that you can use the rust remover made for use on cars (in the automotive section) I have used it safely on tails with a q-tip as an applicator.

I highly recommend reading up on the MLP Preservation site for resources when restoring MLP. The site has decades of knowledge for safe pony repairs and restoration all complied by long term collectors and restoration artists.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I'd poked around that site before, but I didn't see anything specific about Beddy Bye Eyes at first, just general rust removal tips. Some more clicking just now lead me to the "symbols, eyes, and blush" section, and now I feel silly for not looking there earlier.

Long ago I read brushing them with toothpaste would get rid of the rust.
