I recently went to a huge garage sale where 21 houses all had a garage sale (lots of fun) and at one house I found a g1 Bowtie! She wasn't in very good condition, and the lady who owned her felt bad for cutting off Bowtie's hair when she was a child, and saw how much I loved Bowtie anyway and gave her to me for FREE!!!

So I was just wondering, What's the best pony you've found at a second-hand store or garage sale? :)
 
The best thing I've found at a yard sale was my darling Mimic. Cost me all of $1 and was the very first pony in my collection. She's responsible for my 100+ ponies a whole year later! :D
 
Holy **** you found Mimic???!!! :D Wow what an incredible find!!! XD I'd probably jump around excited if I found a pony like her XD

You found Mimic for $1? Really? Whoa I'm jealous. Congratulations on that! :clap:

Well... I found a MIB G3 Sweetberry at Goodwill... but I took her out of the box. I don't find ponies secondhand very often, so that's probably the best pony I've ever found. Just because she was MIB.
 
Probably all those wingers I kept finding a few summers ago. Cool Breeze for $1? Yes please!
 
I found a MIB Sundance and Megan at a swap meet for $6... about 16 years ago! I didn't have any money on me and my mom was in a different aisle and I about freaked out on the vendor lady. I was all like, "PLEEEEASE hold this for just a sec. I'll be write back with money! Don't sell it to anyone else!" She looked at me like I was insane! LOL!


Mimic and pony friends for cheap!?!? So awesome!

Right now, I have 60 G3 ponies. 52 of them are from thrift stores or flea markets, so... 87% of my collection. The most I've gotten is 6 at a time on a couple of different occasions. Usually it's just 1 at a time. I have also found several G1's including Glory, Rosedust (wingless), and Pony Bride... And a few others who will remain nameless for now.

I'm waiting to see who I get as my Halloween swap partner, because I got some G1s in very good condition that a few people have on their wish lists.
 
I work at a Thrift Store, so I spend lots of days looking for ponies and other antiques/ vintage stuff.
I don't work at the toys department and there is another 'rival' pony collector co-worker there to consider, so I'm not always the lucky one who gets the pony stuff.

My best finds sofar:

1) Perm Shoppe with Fifi and almost all the accesoires (€2,-)
2) Pina Colada and Princess Moondust (€0,25 each)
3) Lots and lots of bait ponies (since my co-worker isn't interested in restoring/ customizing ponies), most of them I even get for free, since they are validated as 'broken toys' and otherwise being thrown away!!

Ooh! The Dream Beauty I got for $1 a few summers ago is also one of my better finds. :)

Or, years ago, when I got mom and baby Surprise softies for like a buck each. I still remember that, AND where I was in the flea market when I found them!

And the time Dad found me a sea pony with her brushes and shell at an antique store. He was so proud of himself. He came up and offered it to me, and said, "Is this a pony, honey?" because he had no idea. I about fainted. It was a common sea pony and shell but I didn't have any and I was like 14 so it was a HUGE DEAL.

Less than stellar Mimic $1.99- thrift store
5 birth flower ponies - 50 cents for all at a garage sale
Tux n tails -1.99 garage sale
Baby Pearly Moondancer, Blossom, Glory, Cotton Candy- 1.99 thrift stores (different times in years apart)

I used to find so many years ago now the water hole has dried up :(
 
The My Pretty Pony Peachy (my cats have since made her left ear come off, so she sits in my craft room while I attempt to figure out how on earth to fix her so that she doesn't get jostled or broken any further) that I found at a thrift store a couple of weeks ago for four bucks.
 
Lets see...:

2 flower fantasy ponies MOC for 2.99 each at a thrift store
Beachy Keen (mail order baby) roughly for $2 at a thrift store
Munchy for 67 cents at the flea market
3 baby pearly ponies for 1-2 bucks each at flea market
Dream Beauty at a thrift store for under a dollar at a thrift store

Those are probably my best ;-) 90% of my collection is from flea market or thrift stores tho. I've never found an actual G1 at a garage sale :-(, tho I did find some brushes/stickers...weird lol, the things that would usually be thrown away.
 
I just found this at a garage sale on Saturday for $5.50!!! It took all I had not to start jumping up and down screaming right there in the person's driveway. lol :bounce:
